full of fruit after all of these years. Terrific with and after turkey dinner.

Very nice clarity, fading purple. Nose of plum, dark cherry, and hint of prune. Carries through to the palate, prune notes not distracting. Tannins completely resolved, very smooth feeling. This held up very well considering it was stowed in my neighbours cabinet above the oven.

PnP. Clear, deep dark purple/red color. Nose and first taste had a slight cork tint which blew off in quick order. Rather big and full bodied, balanced, aged, good drinking window but drink up soon. Mature wine, nothing off.

Beautiful nose of ripe cherry and spice. On the palate wonderful fresh berries with cherry dominating. Took this to a Labor Day fireworks party and it was a big hit!

Huge fruit on the nose and this wine is perfect right now! Lingering berry and cherry with a great finish.

Dark red color. The nose shows stewed red fruits, cherry predominates. The palate is cherry, raspberry, has prominent acidity and the still some firm tannins. Holding up pretty well, but I would drink up.

Wine opened up reasonably quickly (not decanted) and fairly smooth zinfandel. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. Good but not spectacular.

Spicy and peppery to me. Enjoyed by itself, but would have probably been a good match for pizza, spaghetti etc.

Opened, let sit for 2 hours and enjoyed with some spicy bbq ribs...a great match. A deep garnet color, bouquet of red fruit with some white pepper. Nice full bodied wine, not too jammy with a spicy finish.

Decanted for an hour. Was a nice full bodied wine. Opened up as the evening progressed.

This wine opened up pretty quick. I did not decant. The finish is medium with a good amount of ripe berries. The wine was good, but I still contend there are better Zins for $30/bottle.

Opened up much quicker. Glass Decanted for about an hour. Fruit came forward as the night progressed. Was very hot and a bit harsh. There was almost no mid palate, but the sour fruit finish was long and pleasurable. This bottle was better than the one a year ago but too much money for the product.

Took a long time to open up. In fact, I didn't finish the bottle on the first night, but I drank the left over wine on the second night and it tasted SO much better (otherwise I would have ranked it lower).

This bottle was quite hot. Last bottle was decanted for 2 hours before consuming and the fruit was more forward and the heat was significantly reduced. The second night this was better, and by the third night it was much, much better.

Opened to air 1 1/2 hours before consuming. Medium dark hue. Aroma of dark berries. Fruit was very forward with medium oak/vanilla. Nice blackberry finish. Wonderful tannins and acidity. Favorite of those at our tasting. Will buy more.

Not a bad wine but not a great one. To be honest, the Captain's Reserve comes as part of the Rubicon level wine club and sometimes its the price you pay to be able to get thier superb estate wines. This one had berries and spice on the nose, but the palate was closed off and a bit muted.
