Jasper Hill, Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet Franc, Heathcote

2007 Vintage Tasting (Bronte, Sydney) : dark red. inky blueberry fragrance, a little dark spice. big boned, large tannins, intense fruit. Fruits and dark spice are tasty, lovely flavour profile, let down a bit by a slightly coarse structure.

Cork looked perfect, 15% alc. Decanted for 6 hours. An intense Heathcote Shiraz with 5% Cabernet Franc. Loads of earthy, smoky black fruit with spices and a subtle oak influence. Some minerally action on the palate which was really concentrated yet surprisingly refined, with good acidity giving focus and drive across the palate.
