Not my preferred style. Supposedly balanced for a Cali cab but still found it candied and jammy. For its age very limited secondary development (no forest floor or leather) although must say oak is pretty well judged. Long finish.

A beautiful cabernet, dry and full bodied. Blackberry, cocoa powder, plum, dark cherry, black pepper, cedar, and earth. Dusty tannins, medium acidity, and medium+ alcohol. Still drinking well, but I wouldn't wait much longer. Cheers!

PnP, no decant. Clear w/very light, very fine sediment. Proper med intensity nose. Consistent with prior tasting notes. Ideal drinking window. Resolved tannin's, med body, long finish. More on the black fruit side. Nothing off. Drink now.

The nose was super strong of toasted coconut (I know, odd) vanilla, and cacao. So incredible it kept me going back for more. No fruit up front but everything was in the middle to a long finish. Lots of red fruits and terroir. More Bordeaux to taste and Napa on the nose. Wish I had another one...guess I’ll have to get the in-laws to open another one. Would love to have more, could see this going for another 5-10...no signs …

Solid Napa Cab. IMO needs another 5 years to completely come together however that depends upon how you like your fruit. I prefer older tones. Very enjoyable now with decanting.

Smooth and balanced, fruit and fine tannins blend nicely, a big wine but it drank easily with no alcohol noticeable,crowd pleaser as my friends enjoyed, drank with hoisin grilled rack of lamb, won’t be able to find again, quite refined for a Napa cab. Too bad Diageo and Chalone sold the vineyard.

Nine years old and drinking very nicely. Three hour decant. Rich and lush with flavors of cocoa, plum, and dark cherry. Good write up about the history of the Hewitt vineyard in Napa Valley. The bottle itself is thick and heavy with the intended effect that it is a rich special wine, but for me is a little annoying.

Pw/1 hr. decant. Minor fine sediments. Clear, deep dark purple color Med legs. Classic big and intense Napa nose. This wine is drinking beautifully. Ideal drinking window, balanced/integrated, more refined, rounded, smoother than 2 years ago. Med body, slightly tart, clean with cherry edge. Red/blue fruit profile, resolved tannins, nice long finish. Drink now or will cellar for years yet. Excellent with Filet. Nothing off. Rob's.

Classic Rutherford nose. Ripe dark fruit. More Plum than cherry. Balance leans towards fruit, but not offensively. It was delicious.

88 Not ready. Fruit does not want to come out. That is why this is a 88 in my opinion. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are fast. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like cranberry, plum and honey. It tastes like black currant (cassis), cherry and stoniness. The body is medium. The wine has coarse texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

A classic bottle of Hewitt from Rutherford. This vintage is a well balanced year. Not over the top, just simply a classic. Very enjoyable.

1 hr decant. Big nose of black currants, cherry, cocoa and herbs. Medium plus body black cherry, currants, licorice, and tobacco notes. Great balance with plenty of fruit and earthy notes and medium tannins.

we opened for xmas night after 3 years in our cellar. it was delicious! full of lush berry flavors with round tannins and leather under current. drinking it reminded us why we buy and cellar really good wine.

P/w 3hr decant. Clear, deep purple/red color. Intoxicating nose of proper and very rich Cab. The wine drank superbly with great balance/integration. Full bodied, big on flavor and clean, the fruit blue/red more than black and definitely on cool side of the acid scale. Long finish with nice tannins, you could drink this all night and not get tired of it. Definitely not over extracted or oaky, my kind of Cab. Wonderful stuff in good drinking window, should hold easily …

This could get me into Napa again, and that's saying something. After a 2012 fruit/oak bomb of a Pinot from Santa Lucia, we moved to this wine, which had been thoughtfully decanted and returned to bottle several hours earlier. Love the color - typical (seldom seen anymore, most are pitch black), bright and just the right mixture of red and black hues. Cool blue and red fruits, with a mountain profile vs anything that usually comes from the valley floor. …

This is an outstanding Cab with terrific dark blackberry fruit along with structure and terrific complexity. Dark chocolate, cassis and hints of licorice and oak make this wine fun to drink but you absolutely must decant for at least an hour to fully appreciate it.

90.7 some what lighter than the 2007 but more approachable at this point. Nice wine.
