Daniel's Birthday Dinner @ Roucou (Roucou, 28 Aberdeen St., Central, Hong Kong) : From Eric. Lightly transparent red rose petals colour. Nose is very earthy Beaune typicity with lots of sous bois. Ripe strawberries. Savoury and muscular on the palate. Cranberries predominate. High acidity. A bit tart. Needs more time. Apparently this was a difficult vintage. Try again in 5 years? 90-91 for now.

Hospices élevage. Lifted dark fruit with a lot of tannins. Representative of both terroir and vintage. 92

Lovely wine with forrest berries, light bright berries with high amount of oak but not overwhelming. Good depth and structure on the palate as well. This will be very, very good in 5 years time when the oak has lost some of its "baby fat".

Tasting prenatal wines one day before the Hospices de Beaune auction (Hospices de Beaune, Burgundy) : Rather sumptuous and rich on the palate, but there is structure that bodes well for the future. Perhaps not as nuanced as the preceding wine, but a winner. 90-92

Tasting prenatal wines one day before the Hospices de Beaune auction (Hospices de Beaune, Burgundy) : This seems harder initially, the tannins are present, but has more concentration. But the finish is marked by refinement and the wine is just more impressive in terms of depth and concentration compared to the previous wine. 88-91
