Notes from 2nd half of a bottle on the 2nd day open. It started out rather "meh" upon first pour, and I was not very confident it was going to show anything more than average. Humble Syrahs with Flannery Burgers (My place, newk’s loft, Portland OR) : The nose is complex and classic Syrah for the meaty lovers: black cherries, raspberries, savory spices, herbs, violets, bacon fat, some olive paste, crushed rocks, licorice, and ripe, and black fruits. The Medium bodied feel is balanced and savory with crisp, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. This is a really balanced and refined syrah that is a beautiful anomaly within the Willamette Valley.

Really lovely light and savory Syrah / Viognier blend. Dark cherries, spice, lots of pepper.

Wow, lovely wine! My first of Marcus' syrahs. This started a little tight but transformed over the evening. Each sip was a bit different than the last. It has the trademark Goodfellow minerality and intensity (while still being very light on the palette). I have two more bottles and will hold for another few years.

I think this could age for a decade or more. When first opened it really needed to breath and just 15 minutes made a big difference. Day 2 it was definitely better and on Day 3 it was hitting its stride right out of the bottle. I have two more bottles and prob won’t open the next one for at least another 2-3 years

OregonLoafer gets it right on the flavor profile and development. Fruit dominates on day 1, and the wine just gets better on Day 2 and 3. This wine is darker, extracted, and riper than the lean and mean 2013 Matello Deux Vert Syrah that I also love, but this is a very different wine. I would mirror the previous report on the thread. This wine is a million miles from the (vast majority of the) highly extracted Washington Syrah examples. Really enjoyed it over a few hours on night number one. It evolved away from my liking on night two... not shot, just not a flavor profile I am drawn to. $21 here in Portland.

Classic. While it’s denser than some other cool-climate Syrahs, nobody can call this too lean - but at the same time it bears no resemblance to Washington State Syrah or 90s-Style Aussie Shiraz. Basically if you like the northern Rhône you’ll probably like this.
