Well-made, middle of the pack, Chardonnay. Doesn't really excite, but shows good varietal character, and is nicely balanced. Some pear and apple notes, smooth but short finish. Very good for the price. Hess Select wines are almost always reliable and offer good value.

Don't bother – syrupy and flat

Looking for a nice summer Chard to go with a supper of grilled shrimp skewers. Hess Select usually offers a nice buttery flavor profile, but this 2012 was pretty muted. Not offensive at all, but not as expressive as it has been in the past.

White flowers, tangerine, moderate intensity, decent nose. High acid, citrus and hints of tangerine. Lacks balance, heavy alcohol, but overall pretty good for the price point.

Buttery and round. Slight tannin. Fruity finish. Average Chard.

Toast and vanilla, the oak pretty much dominates. Not unpleasant, certainly, but clearly past its prime. Definitely not worth the price at this point.

Highly acidic, paired well with food(roast chicken, spicy corn soup). Satisfactory wine, but nothing special. Would not purchase again for the price($19).
