Campion Pinot Noir

I have done a complete 180 on this wine. The nose is a bit muted and a bit hot, but the palate is wonderful. Great cherry and earth balanced with vibrant acidity. This was fantastic. Outstanding. thedrunkencyclist.com

This wine continues to surprise me--the first bottle was certainly a disappointment, but with each subsequent tasting, it has shown better. I do not think that first bottle was a case of bottle shock (I waited well over two weeks to pop the first), but I could be wrong. The previous note still applies with even better fruit and depth. The first bottle of this was a bit of a stinker and I was depressed since I had bought 6 of them. The second bottle was certainly an improvement over the first, and this built on that last bottle. Since the last bottle of this was less than thrilling and given the vintage, I thought it best to move through the five (!) bottles that I had left rather quickly. This wine was noticeably better than the last, but still has a ways to go. The fruit was a little more up front and it tried to eek out some complexity for me, but alas, it is still not a world beater. Heck, it is not even a lemonade …

I was a bit disappointed here. I have always respected Campion but this is a sub-par effort. No real fruit to speak of, nor much complexity. It opened a bit with some time, but not enough to suggest any future improvement. Average to Good.

I really wish I would've paid attention to the prior review before purchasing this ... even at the discounted price.

This wine has dropped most of its fruit. It has started to maderize. Drink up.
