Très ouvert sur des notes d’abricots et pêches mûrs avec des arômes de papaye et de cire. Mielleux en bouche avec une acidité soutenue et une belle amertume et de la longueur en bouche.

Decanted. Now 2.4h after decant. Gold color. Very shy aromas of apples, Meyer lemons, herbs, and some minerals. Palate w apples, a hint of Meyer lemon, a bit of wet wool, and nice minerals and hints of nuts and honeysuckle. Excellent acids on medium+ body. Nice balance even if the wine feels somewhat shut down and muted. Nice moderately long finish. Wish I had some more as I think the wine would blossom in another 5 yrs or so.

This one surprisingly had a geosmin note similarly to same vintage’s Huet Sec last year. Quite ripe fruited with not a very classic Chenin character. I reckon this is not a particularly successful vintage in the area, even if this wine was passable.

100% biodynamically farmed Chenin Blanc from a 4-hectare parcel in Montlouis-sur-Loire where the vine age ranges from 5 to 20 years. Fermented spontaneously, aged for approximately a year on the lees in 600-liter demi-muids. No MLF. 14,5% alcohol. Intense, still remarkably youthful neon-green color. The nose feels oddly vegetal and grassy, making me think of geosmin taint quite quickly. Apart from these leafy-grassy nuances, there are aromas of lemony citrus fruits, some crunchy white berries, a little bit of leesy …

Wasn't sure what to expect as I've had a fair number of flawed Chidaine bottles, some younger and some same era if not 2011. This was quite fresh on opening, deeper yellow, but little tertiary flavor. Rather, though somewhat muted nose of mineral, lemon, pear, the palate was balanced and rich, showing same profile as nose plus light honey. Unlike some notes this had ample acidity, and was a delight before dinner, as well as with dinner of grilled halibut, …

Having with Bo ssam, the Eric joon ho recipe and not the crappy dave Chang version. A little flabby, could use some more zing. Chidaine, really fell off my loire chenin map, don't know if it was the label changes or change in distributor. Chidaine makes one of the cleanest and sharpest chenins, a little wool, lots of ripe apricots and waxiness. Have a 2010 left in the cellar to try soon.

Light gold in the glass. Opened last night and it was good but another 20 hours of air has really done wonders for it. There’s an overwhelming aroma that I’d describe as a combo of crushed grapeseed and burnt Werther’s Original but there’s only a trace of that butterscotch on the palate which is dominated by rich peach fruit and the grapeseed note. Vinified very dry and thus high in alcohol (14.5 pct). This seems like a polarizing wine but …

93 Un vinazo en este momento. Color precioso, dorado intenso. En nariz cera de abeja, flores marchitas. En boca es espléndido, cremoso, pero con una limpieza y una fruta perfectas. Final de boca de intensidad media, con toques amargos muy interesantes. En su punto ahora mismo.,

Very generous Chenin Blanc with and abundance of white flower and tropical fruit but also some flint and honey that is carried over to the palate. The acidity has a juicy expression and unfortunately lacks some focus but it still balances the fruity palate ok. I should admit that we have not treated this bottle well. It spent several weeks in our car during a summer vacation and might have been affected by this.

From the glass list at Rouge Tomate (NYC). Decided to try some chenin - as the somm (Pascaline) is know for it and I literally know nothing about it. Glad I tried as this is the type of white wine a red wine drinker can really enjoy. Seemed a bit thicker and more viscous with a heavier mouth feel than most white wines. Pretty nose of white flower and pear. On the palate a bit waxy, flavors of pear or …

Popped and poured. Consistently, one of my favorite Loire whites year in and year out. This wine just didn't have enough acidity for me. Terrific aromas and flavors but not quite enough acidity to lift the palate to another plane. Maybe just the vintage. Still love Chidaine and this bottling. 88pts.

Golden color. Honey, lime, pear, lanolin, a little petrol for aromas and flavors. More pronounced on the nose than the palate. A little flabby and disjointed. Tastes like some artificial acidity was added (citric acid). Medium slightly harsh finish. OK, but barely... Better day 2.

Golden yellow-seems advanced given young age. Initially fairly oxidized aromas and concerning for premox. After >1.5h in decanter, nice aromas of wet wool, taut apples, meyer lemon and a bit of salt, iodine, and herbs. P-Gala apples, minerals, herbs, a bit of sea salt, w more minerals on the midpalate. F-Grapefruit w pith, apples, minerals. Nice long finish. Sooo good.

Seemed to lack the usual acid of other vintages? Good fruit but lacking; zip, concentration and intensity. Disappointed. This is usually a sure thing.

Nice wine. Bone dry. Not as good as prior vintages I have tried. I doubt it gets better, but there is time.

No formal notes - PnP, excellent match for tuna served on papadums with a wasabi mayo and pickled ginger, soy sauce, samphire and lumpfish eggs. Saline, creamy and spicy - an excellent wine-food combo!

I liked this a bit more when I tasted at the store than last night. Decanted for a few hours. Wine was surprisingly golden. A touch of sweetness. The aromas were spicy, The palate a bit wolly. Paired wonderfully with a middle eastern, cumin seasoned chicken and rice dish, much more so than on its own. Not sure why this showed so differently than the first bottle

Millesime Bio Fair - Day 2 (Montpellier, France) : I love this wine, and 2011 is another solid example. Floral, peach, nectarine, minerals on the nose. Peach and cantaloupe all over the palate, but also really tangy. Creamy, slightly nutty, with a bit more honey than the Franc de Pied bottling. Great length on the palate, this will open up a lot over the next few years, I'm guessing.

First night: Initial whiff of vanilla and spice. Lots of minerality as well as pear, green apple, lemon, and tonic water. Medium body, and mouth-filling. Decent aromatics. Strong buttered popcorn developing on nose and palate. Good acidity and length. A non-fruit element I couldn't put my finger on, is it petrol or lanolin? 2 nights later: pretty similar, notes of vanilla/cinnamon, some fruit and mineral, substantial weight and mouthfeel.

This wine shows how hard 2011 was in some Loire villages. This wine on day one felt dilute and without intensity, pleasant enough and not imbalanced, but without a whole lot going for it, Day two brings some wool and a bit more definition to the fruit but the wine is fine, not special. Tough year for this one.

Completely shut down on the nose. Very dry and with a saline quality that reminded me of muscadet. Not giving up much on the palate, and not really drinking like Loire Chenin. Day two: still mute on the nose and drinking the same - very lemony. Tasty and a decent value.

Sec. A bit muted on the nose; typical chenin spice and fruit. On the palate, a nice saline core with just a hint of quince and spice. On entry, a bit muted and underwhelming, but the finish is fairly lengthy with just a touch of oak. Unfortunately, this is a bit flabby; I would prefer higher acid levels to give this a nice zippy edge to it. Seems typical of the vintage (not as rich as the '09s and not …

Not the best vintage of the wine I've had, the 2011 operates on a more meagre spectrum than previous vintages. Having said that, it is still a very good rendering of a precise style of Loire chenin. Beeswax and wool dominate the nose - honey is very much underplayed at this early stage, more of an allusion than an aroma. The palate is medium weight with good balance of fullness and freshness and it finishes up with a rich, textured …
