Great acidity to go the distance. Classic syrah black fruits with a hint of Northern Rhone funk. Young but precise.

Delicious Syrah. Dark fruits, lilac, pepper notes on the nose and palate. Everything in balance.

Served with Emeril Burgers (bacon, tyme, etc). Great wine. Red fruit (rasberries, currants), spice and minerals. This has some Sourthern Rhone terroir notes. In a prime place to drink; everyone loved it.

A quandary... Decanted half the bottle 45 minutes prior to dinner. The other half poured as we sat down. The decanted version had a slightly muddled nose with some wild animal aspects and a twist of acid on the finish. The non-decanted was spicy, savory, and energetic. Could the decanter have been flawed? Its usually very pristine, but I have no other way to explain this phenomenon. The non-decanted remains delicious 3 hours later, with plenty of natural tannin and …

Interesting medium-to-full-bodied red, dark purple. Boysenberry / blueberry upfront, great body, giving way to some char and grass on the finish. I’ll be curious to see how this one ages.

Medium ruby. Alcoholic and medicinal cherry on the nose. Full bodied and fruity with some coffee notes. Simple.

Medium ruby. Aromas of dark plums, red cherries, roses, and chocolate. Penetrating sweet red cherry fruit on the palate with vibrant acids, strong integrated tannins, full bodied with a long finish. A very pure rendition, intense, bright and delicious with ragu. 93

Paired with bbq. Delicious. Would purchase again. Nice fruit, sweeter but not cloy-ish.

Corked, but not so badly that it was undrinkable. Frustrating. Sort of like going somewhere for a great view, but there was just too much fog to take any pictures.

Pop and pour. Muted nose of black fruit, slight spice and a touch of alcohol. Fruit remained shy on the palate, even after several hours. Feels well-made, but just does not seem to excite. I am getting the impression that 2007 was not a particularly successful year for Stolpman as I have found surrounding vintages much more enjoyable.

Nose and palette of dark berries, mocha and pepper. Very smooth and balanced even at this young age. Great mouthfeel and long finish. Tannins are still noticeable but I suspect will integrate with further aging.

Had this for my birthday and on the day after. Very limited production that gets specially selected each year. Well-balanced nose of dark berries, chocolate, and some pepper. That balance continues on the palate. The softness of berries and cream dominates the first impression. This then transforms into pronounced minerals and tannins, which suggest the wine would develop well for another few years. One of our favorites from the Santa Ynez valley. Glad I still have a few bottles ...
