Black Sears Syrah Estate

This was fantastic. Started well and really opened up over the hour we drank it. Nice long finish. Too bad they stopped growing Syrah!

Purple black. Decent fruit. Not over the top but not too complex. Average finish.

Shame this was the last one I had. In a fantastic place right now. Berry, vanilla and some dusty Smokey thing going on. Excellent pairing with BBQ ribs. I probably drank all of the others to early.

Drinking well right now and don't think this will benefit from more cellaring time. Decent, but not outstanding as it lacks some depth I had recalled from earlier bottles.

The nose was powerful but the aromas muddled. The palate is intense and focused, however, with powerful notes of beef, raspberries, cocoa and some oak. Delicious wine but it needs time to loosen up.

A good, well-made syrah, but felt a bit ponderous and heavy. Notes of black olive and meat on the nose and palate. This might improve a lot with age, but for now it is not something I really enjoy. It lacks the floral notes and the refreshing lift that I like to find in Syrahs.
