Never would have guessed South Africa. This is definitely more northern Rhone like. Initially muted. Needed an hour to open up and show herbs, perfume, hint of pepper and red berries in the background. Medium bodied with both prominent acidity and tannins that need food. Drinks well now but has the structure to develop further.

Terroir-istes Local - Syrah, Stellenbosch 1 (Cape Town - Las Cases) : (Tasted Blind): A mid-crimson to ruby colour. Lifted aromas of pepper, menthol, blackberry and black cherry alongside those sappy stem inclusion notes. Rather light on its feet, the wine lacks density and power. There is some challenging tannic grip from stem inclusion, which is firm but bony. There is some elegance here, and floral blueberry and blackberry fruits are alongside a vibrant acidity.
