Nose of red fruit (raspberry, cranberry) with notes of sweat and dry leaves. Palate is round and mouth-filling, but light. Strong alcohol, with light flavours of red fruit, grapefruit, and forest floor.

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Bin 75) : See through dull ruby core with pale large rim; new, sour cherry, candied, very fresh, floral, candied strawberry; soft and silky, some vanilla, sour dark cherry, a bit light on depth and mid; tasty.

Earthy, leathery and musky initially though fresh red fruits came to fore after 30 minutes. Light bodied with a bit more bite tannic bite than expected from a burgundy. Lovely, and went well with our beef and lamb steaks.

Some pepper, oak and dried flowers on the nose - Medium weight with resolved tannins acid pokes at adding to the length a fair ammount of spice and some pepper / stems helps give character to the blue fruit - good effort on the savoury side

Ruby red with aromas of strawberries and red raspberries. It was balanced, medium bodied with rich strawberry flavors and spice. The finish was a little smoky and minerally....as it opened up, it got more integrated and earthy.

Gorgeous nose of potpourri, dried red berries, lavender, and spice. Wild strawberries open the medium bodied palate, with spicy charred tomato undertones. The finish is filled with lively cranberry acid, smokey minerals, and fresh tilled soil. This drinks very well with air, and will likely improve in the cellar. Drink or Hold. R&M90

Oak and smoke initially on the nose but with time revealed the fresh, crisp cherries, raspberries, black olives and barnyard funk. Smooth, almost silky in the mouth. Red fruits, earth, oak and hints of woody herbs on the palate. Moderate(-) length.

Started off with lots and lots of warm spices and oak on the nose. With about an hour, the oak definitely mellowed out and the red fruit and florals took center stage. The palate is richly fruited for a 2008 with lots of spice and underbrush tones. Its finish seemed to have a spicy vegetal note to it - kind of like a peppered radish. Interesting stuff.

A Tasting with Peter Weygandt (Weygandt Wines - Washington, D.C.) : I was very impressed with the way this wine showed. It was really open and expressive, not shut-down at all. Fragrant aromas of cherries, smoke and beef broth. The palate shows silky tannins, tangy acid and flavors of pure cherry fruit, smoke and earth. Very subtle toast on the finish. Overall, this is a really balanced and complex village wine.

As is the case with most of David Clark's wines, the oak is noticeable on the nose and palate. Sadly, it masks some really incredible fruit at this point - these will need some time to let the oak fall away a bit. I would hold.

Bright, clear and purple red in the glass. Fresh, clean, elegant Pinot Noir nose with red fruits and a developing earth, mushroom and herbal background. Moderate body. Refreshing palate - primary red fruits with a strong earthy core. Mild tannic bite and a moderate length. Very nice and looking forward to charting its evolution.

Delicious. Oak did not bother me at all. Thought it was well done. Exhibits that savory component of the Cote de Nuits which I find very satisfying. Has range of blue and red fruit tones mixing in with some earthy/brothy notes and dare I say smokey BBQ tones. Refreshing finish. This producer continues to impress. I think the price point on this village wine is fair for what it offers.

Nice spicy red fruit with earthy notes and oak. I could see some people being turned off by the oak here, but it seemed reasonable to me. Palate has nice weight and acidity. Should be drinking well for a number of years.

Some oak on the nose otherwise a solid effort for an up and coming Burgundy producer and 2008 is still quite young. I am sure Clark has some hurdles to overcome from many areas but a producer to watch. For the vintage, I would rate it a solid mid pack but I am picky!

Sweet red fruited nose with underlying earth and spice. Palate is remarkably silky with lithe red fruit, dried red florals, and fine tannins. Drinking very well, and will probably peak in 5 years or so.

Weygandt Selections - Annual Portfolio Tasting (Astor Place - New York, NY) : Incredibly bright for a 2008. Despite it's overly exuberant fruit profile, it did have nice underlying mushroom and floral notes. Are the 2008s beginning to shut down a bit?

BBR 2008 Burgundy tasting : Possible buy. Very good for price. David tells me that it could do with 18 months before drinking so loks like one for birthdays in 2011.
