Georg Breuer, Rudesheim Berg Roseneck Riesling, Rheingau

Damaged cork but still correct. Deep golden color, really settled and balanced acidity, Surprisingly high amount of fresh tropical fruits-flavours with this wines age in mind. Im a big fan of Breuer and this was certainly no exception!

This flight was served blind, only vintage was known. Youthful, pale golden color. Nose was a bit muted with lots of wet stones. On the palate very fresh with a wonderful racy acidity. A finely chiselled wine. Well-developed and lively nose, slightly smoky, hint of lanolin (not petrol), well-defined fruit (citrus, apple, peach), mineral depth; harmonious palate, medium body (12.5% ABV), lovely interplay of elegantly succulent fruit and delicately angular minerality; seamless but saliva-inducing acidity carries the light but persistent flavours through to the moderately long finish. Subtle, almost introverted, but has poise and focus. Ready.

Middle golden color. Now on day 2 I'm Wondering if this is on decline or not, delicate nose, round and intense, sweet citrus, Orange. Distinct acid, perhaps a tad too much for even better score. Finishing long, great wine, better showing than last bottle some 4 yrs ago - 91. Conclusion after day 3: the wine has rounded up and is emerging as a well focused, generous and classy white - 92

Showing very well today and developing much better than I anticipated a few years ago. Complex and deep nose of spiced peaches, white flowers and intense minerality, very pure and with only the merest hint of TDN; the palate is juicy and energetic, with crisp acidity and the slightly angular build that is so typical for Breuer; quite a stony finish, very good length. At peak, drink now - 2020.

Had it with Emrich-Sconleber Fruhlingplatzen '07 two make comperasion to Rheingau / Nahe. Breuer was more crisp citrus and acidity, with greener colour. More power. Emrich more deeper gold colour, with more develop fruit of pineapple, apples and roasted toast. Both 92-93p.

No petrol at all. Delicious fruit with beautiful minerality.

Yellow colour. Some vanilla on the nose, followed by nutty notes and pungent yellow fruit in a white-burgundian sort of way and veering specifically towards pungent citrus. Full body, with slight spritzig and a prickle on the lips at the start. Pungent, yet slightly sweetish yellow fruit, especially pineapple. Beautiful. Again, the acidity reminds me more of white Burgundy more than it does riesling. A major success in light of the vintage and fine plus.

Very much in line with my July 2012 tasting note. It may be a little bit lighter now than back then (but the slightly more slender profile becomes the wine very well) and the earthy/spicy note that is so typical for dry Rheingau wines seems a bit more to the fore. A very enjoyable Breuer, drinking at peak, should last another five years.

(Henne Kirkeby Kro) From memory: Even if decanted, it took some time to get over the initial petrol notes. Very nice full-bodied food wine, perhaps a little bit reticent like many 2007s now, and nowhere near the spicy magic of the recent Weil Gräfenberg GG 2003.

Rich, candied lemon, lovely minerality, good weight, steely acidity, very pure and precise, much livelier than the previous bottle. Good length. Not for the very long term, now - 2015.

When tasted at Breuer's in September 2010 it was still very tight and minerally. Although a true Breuer still, the rapid development of the German 2007 Rieslings is noticeable here too. Seemingly mature, both in flavour and in structure, a little low on energy. Now - 2014. But why wait?
