Drinking perfectly. Wonderfull nose of spring rain, freshly cut grass. Lots of fruit on palette - cassis, strawberry. Hints of black pepper, spice. Good strong finish. Not very tannic. Would drink over next couple years.

From 75cl, dry cork successfully extracted in two pieces after a struggle, decanted 1 hour, improved until final drop. I respectfully disagree with recent TNs which suggest it's time to drink up, unless your bottles suffered heat stress in transit, or bad storage since. This was my best bottle yet (CT TNs 22.03.2023 and 27.04.2025) and given ideal storage I could well imagine it could have improved for another decade at least. Anyway, this evening we experienced a viscous, Amarone-sweet …

Reading the other reviews I think it's time to drink this although it took about a half hour really to open up in the glass. I should have décanted it not only for that reason but the copious amount of sediment. Drank great very little fruit mostly tertiary flavors but very enjoyable nonetheless.

Drinking very well. Quality cork with only 1mm of bleed. Still some freshness to balance the brooding style of tempranillo Toro. Overall very enjoyable with a tapas meal at a newer spot in Atlanta. Have 2 more, but no need to wait. Better in 15 minutes open, after an hour it showed a touch too much oxy flavors, so will not decant unless sharing with a full group.

From 75cl. Absurd SUV-like, 953 gram-heavy bottle. Sad to think the 570 gram bottle bottle used by Vega Sicilia to protect their Unico 2006 (just put it on the scales to compare) wouldn't have met this producer's criteria. To make matters worse, they skimped on the cork. As with my previous bottle (CT TN 22.03.2023) it disintegrated into dust and messy shreds despite careful use of an ah-so. Miraculously, the wine not only survived its defective closure, but was outstanding. …

Drank Blind with the Northstar Ballers: WOW!!!! Blew all of our minds. Never had such an old Numanthia, and opened with a backup bottle close-by incase it didn't deliver, but man was I wrong for thinking that! Absolutely beautiful, with tonsssssss of life left! Wow wow wow, Wish I had a case of this laying around! Drinking at peak, with no end in sight! No need to rush to open.

My third bottle of 2014, drank this vintage three years ago. Still drinks very well, shows no signs of reaching it's peak. Classic Tempranillo, blackberry, rasberry and this warm sunny mouthfeel, fullbodied, great structure and will be great for many more years to come.

My personal signature Tempranillo from Toro and its always a pleasure to come back to it. 50-100+ years old ungrafted vines farmed from more than 100 parcels at 700 meters of altitude. Aged for 18 months in new FR oak barrels, racked every 4 months. Deep garnet, bricking edges. Medium+ intensity aroma of prunes, dried cherries, tobacco, leather, chocolate, hint of dried herbs and touch of lavender. Medium+ body, soft and rich, concentrated but also most elegant vintage I’ve tasted, …

Dark red with a touch of black. Blackberry, pepper, grilled beef on the nose. Cola, black pepper, tea, oak, with a hint of leather and a dark fruit and oaken finish. Still young at heart. Hadn’t had this in a while, holding up really well. More savory than the Booker Tempranillo I tasted it against.

What a beauty this is becoming! Now on it's early plateau. After three hours of decanting, it came a lot alive like nothing else. Beautiful herbal and the fruit finally receding to give way for what a mature fantastic Tempranillo can be like. Inch by inch it's getting there. If you prefer primary fruit than it's time to drink up. If your taste is towards mature wine - absolutely no hurry. The cork was in very poor condition and there …

Cork came out intact in very good shape. Double decant over 2 hours. 20 years old but the tannins make you think it’s 3 years old, they are quite abbrasive still. Otherwise a beautiful wine, nose of red fruit and raisin. Palate mostly tertiary at this point. Drink up!

As mention below, fruits have muted and tannins have smoothed out almost completely, which feels like it cannot age any longer. Drink now. It probably does not cut fatty food as well as tannins and acidity are no longer present.

Opened two bottles over 3 days. Both corks came out intact. Both bottles brown throughout. Fist bottle with Chinese food retained some fruit although very much on tge leather side. Okay would rate close to 90 as some fruit left with a moderate finish Second bottle first night leaking any fruit Kept overnight in fridge bottle open Second night sone fruit showing leather with a moderate finish. No tannins to resolve if you have any drink up

Late May 2023: deep purple color; intense bouquet of dark cherries and mulberries mingled with aromas of oak, espresso and herbs; smooth and round on the palate with a balancing juicy acidity; fleshy tannins in the cheeks; long finish. 93-94/100 Excellent Numanthia 2006 could eventually improve into an outstanding one.

From 75cl, perfectly stored since purchase in 2006; dried-out, inferior cork disintegrated on extraction. Double decanted 1 hour, improved until final drop. This is still an unrepentant brute of a wine, with intensely concentrated, slightly roasted fruit and still-tightly-coiled complex spice on the nose. Earthy–meaty, aromatic, dark-to-raisiny fruit on the thick-textured, sweet entry leads to surprisingly mighty raw-leather-like mid-palate tannins, still not resolved 20 years after the vintage. Just entering early maturity; well stored bottles surely have at least another …

Our first time with 2003 vintage. We’ve tried 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2009. This wine more than holds it own. Cran body and medium transparent. Nose is wonderful with toasted praline and maple predominantly (like a tawny or Madeira) then chocolate and new shoe leather. Palate has great weight and body with red currant, caramel, chocolate and tertiary notes of leather and raisin. Healthy acidity and powdery tannins.

Loved it!!! I had bought a magnum at a Bern’s Steak House wine dinner featuring the Wine maker, Michael Louzada. He recommended holding it for at least 10 years. We opened it Saturday and it was amazing out of the bottle. Deep flavors, plenty of fruit, yummy. I saved a third of the bottle for Sunday. It became smoother and more flavorful but 30 minutes after pouring, the flavors went away… we finished it anyway! Wish I had bought more…

From 75cl, cork almost rotten under foil, but sound at wine end. Absurdly heavy bottle. Monolithic, sweet, fat, blackberry fruit; low acidity, high alcohol; mealy-pasty texture. Thick and rich, this is yet another bodybuilder "luxury" Spanish wine from the early 2000s. How weird to think I paid 20% more for this on release than I did for the 2001 vintage of Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva, and roughly the same price as for Alion 2001. How times change (and how I …

Really enjoyable, much better at this age than when younger, where it is much about power; now nicely soft with well-integrated flavours, medium dark red, more dark than medium; dark fruit, licorice, lots of sweetness, a bit of soft tannins in the back; not a blockbuster as such, but really well made

The 2003 Numanthia was tonight's youngest wine, still waiting for its sweet fruit to mature. Rich, beautiful aromas of youthful fruit, plums, cherries 🍒 and darkness. In the mouth, the acids are towards the lower register, the youthful fruit is packing a full punch 🤜 and the tannic backbone is still overshadowed by it. Feels slightly generic today. Guess this performs best for us who love CdP. One BTL to go, hoping I can keep it for 10 years or …

Monthly Tasting Group: Spain (Rincon 38, Mpls, MN) : Very dark red color. Double decanted for 3 hours, drank a glass over an hour. Modern style, full bodied with plenty of dark fruit, creme de cassis, blackberry, underbrush, charcoal, firm but caressing tannins. This has some depth and power, but I didn't find it over done. With some age and air this showed well. Not my preferred style, but many will love it, and I enjoyed it.

I drank this a few days ago and forgot to post a review. Those who say this wine is past its prime and those who say it's still drinking well are both right. It all depends on your preferences. The fruit is integrated, yet muted, without being muddled -- sort of like a compote, reduction, or mixed-berry preserves made with no added sugar. There is a distinct dried plum note that isn't yet pruny. A good tobacco and cedar undertone …
