Very nice but has lost some punch from previous bottle, fruit seemed a bit more red and bright than I recalled. Probably closer to the end of the drinking window than I expected.

After the fact, decanted for 90 minutes. Smooth, easy and very approachable. Nice balance of dark fruit with more than enough tannin for interest. Like many of these wines I think they are best consumed within 5-8 years of bottling, not a long-term ager but very solid. While rating the same as my last tasting nearly 18 months ago, a bit of time has clear served this wine nicely. At this point, I think further aging only impacts the decant …

This bottle was dialed-in; a more finessed expression of the sometimes touchy 2013 vintage, with friendly red and black berry flavors roped around red cherry, river rock, red licorice, purple plum, and anise notes. It is more medium bodied, but has become even better integrated. Finishes with less oomph than when it starts, but with worthy directional flavor and focus. Drink now and over the next handful of years. If you’ve been sitting on these, it might be time to …

Consistent with previous, drinking well now, full-bodied but not jammy.

I'm a big fan of Becklyn's base cuvée - I've had many vintages and every time it manages to be huge and yet detailed, kind of the ultimate California cabernet when you want one of those. This, unfortunately, isn't that. It's loud and flabby and unbalanced. Really a disappointment.

First sampling of the Moulds, and a decade since I last tasted tasted Les Behrens' handling of this fruit Jet black throughout. After an hour in the decanter there's tons of rich black and dark blue fruit along w coffee bean on the nose. As noted elsewhere this is surprisingly approachable given its depth and darkness. The fruit is even darker on the palate and while overpowered by coffee and is less approachable than the nose would indicate, it's certainly …

Good color, nice blue fruit , perfumy nose- good wine. Popped and poured - still pretty good - will see how it is tomorrow .

Nose reminded me of 1992 Etude Napa Cabernet. Palate showing darker fruit than that wine, lots of plum and black currant.

Ooh this was good. Very extracted and concentrated, but it carefully avoids jamminess and finds balance between the dark fruit and the finish. Decanted for two hours, surprisingly approachable despite the youth. Smooth tannins, meaty, bit of licorice on the second day.

Concentrated black and red cassis, blueberry, and plum fruit. Dried underbrush, graphite and vanilla offer secondary notes. It is almost syrupy because it is viscous but very smooth. Oak is well integrated. Judging by my own description I’m not sure this style of wine would be to my liking, but I have to say it works…works pretty darn well. It is a hedonistic and opulent wine. Definitely has more life ahead, but I popped and poured and it was already …

Just not my style. Its a blueberry milkshake buried in oak. Decanted for 2 hours and it didn't matter. Way too overextracted and buried in oak. I can understand how some like this style, but not me. Glad i dropped off the list. Happy to give my place to those who enjoy the style.

Day 1: So tight, even after 4 hours in decanter. blackberry is really all that is there. Nice structure. Day 2: More showing, but still so youthful. The blackberry has shifted to more of a boysenberry note. Some cedar is emerging on top of spice. minor band-aid note. long finish. This needs a lot of time. I'm not sure I prefer the "Reserve" to the "Regular", but this is damn good!

I totally agree with the note from “PourMeSomeMore” - that assessment is spot on in my opinion. This is a wine that will show it’s stuff with bottle age. I would wait to open this Cab, it needs a couple more years. It really didn’t open up in a way that I anticipated it would. Definitely a finesse style, very tight and inhibited type of wine at this point, showing all primary fruit and cranberries at this stage. The last …

Wanted to try a bottle as my last order from Becklyn came to my door. Really nice cabernet. Mixed fruit, leaning towards the black and blue side on a solid core with an excellent finish for how young this wine is.

Not surprisingly, all primary fruit at this stage. Won't touch the others for a while.

Corked. First a corked Rhys Swan Terrace and now a corked Becklyn Reserve. Not a good way start the birthday celebrations!! Edit: I reached out to Becklyn and they bent over backwards to make it right. Quick reply, exceptional customer service.

Had to try one before the upcoming release, gave it about 3 hours of air, black and blue fruit, very silky on the palate but tannin comes through pretty strong on the finish. Needs time but I will be all in on the next release! Excellent

Tasted head to head with '13 Corra and It was a tie. Both are wonderful wines with room to grow.

Lovely nose and great dark purple color with nice legs and visible viscosity on the legs. Deep/dark fruit, very smooth, more of an elegant, pretty style compared to the typical Mike Smith style, a wine that shows more purity/finess at this point. This is a wine made for aging, so if you want to try it, you will do it no justice without a long decant. Based on the notes that others have posted, I should have waited on this …

I should have read the notes of others and allow for a longer decant (Sadly, the weather did not allow for such long decanting, so it was only 2+ hours and then over the dinner itself, a total of 4 hours or so). I would say that after the third hour or so in the decanter it started showing its advantages above the '13 Becklyn, and then the visitors have started noticing it both on the nose and palate. I …

Slow ox for 4 hours. Drank over another 4 hours along with a 2013 Rivers-Marie cab and a 2013 Rivers-Marie Panek cab. This is pretty special stuff. Has a profile akin to Oakville juice, although I understand this vineyard is in Oak Knoll. Black fruit and pencil shavings. Eucalyptus. Explosive palate, and a long, seamless finish. Drank very consistently over the 4 hours it was consumed. This was easily my favorite, although some preferred the R-M Panek (which is a …

Dark and ominous. Nose of violets and boysenberries. The palate showed little in the first hour but with air/time in decanter this shows pureness and grace with a moderate creaminess. Intense soft blackberries and dark currants, it has this wonderful floral/violet quality to it that I really do love. impeccably aligned tannins and perfectly balanced acidity, this really pleases all the senses. Notes of warm evening frangipani, worn leather and espresso bean lace this nicely. Mouth-feel is focused and exact …
