Nevis Bluff Pinot Noir

Pinot-palooza (Carriageworks, Redfern) : Cream, milk even, followed by very slight green notes on the nose. Milky on the palate but with tannic grip and some green notes. Very odd indeed.

{screwcap, 14%} Wonderfully aromatic but ultimately fairly simple new world pinot. Delicious aromas of smoked cherry tantilise the nose; there's a fairly bit of fine french oak texture to the palate, which manages plenty of ripe - even slightly warm - game-tinged cherry fruit flavours. It's light/medium-bodied; the finish does remain a little short and hollow; perhaps this disappointment is heightened by the glorious enticements offered by the nose. Ah, well, that's how it goes. The 2009 Pinot Noir displays boysenberry, blackcurrant, cinnamon and violet aromatics. The palate shows exotic black fruit flavours with soft and elegant tannins.
