Not as sweet as the aging might suggest Very approachable and enjoyable sipper suited to almost any whisky drinker. A classic for good reason. Nice combination of sweeter fruitier notes along with gentle smoke, nuts, caramel, and toast. It's fun to drink good scotch.

Spicy oak and honey flavors with medium finish

Drank from Wilbur's collection. I really didn't think I'd like this, but boy, is this one exciting Scotch to drink. Very different than the rest due to the usage of Caribbean Cask. It almost struck me as rum (which makes me feel like I'm offending the sacrosanct Scotch panel), yet it was clearly Scotch and it was memorable and delicious.

Going to the mellow side of whisky, this has been matured for 14 years in traditional oak casks before being transferred to Caribbean rum casks to impart some extra flavour. Abundant tropical fruit on the nose (passionfruit, ripe pineapple, mango) that slides smoothly to the palate as well. Soft and mouth-coating with a superb balance. Vanilla-scented finish.

Lovely orange nose. Toasted oak, vanilla, toffee on palate. Drink neat. Touch of spice on the finish.

Maple, molasses

A private lunch (Restaurant Scran & Scallie, Edinburgh, Scotland) : Pure and heathery highland character, tropical notes from the rum casks, silky and rich but deep and intense, powerful and energetic, very good resonance and length. An emphatic whisky.

W.A.N.K. (Gary's place, Rosebery) : Extremely honeyed and quaffable. Simple and very easy. Bit of an evaporating whisky.

Pretty solid at the price of about $72 after tax at Costco. There’s a well-rounded toffee/caramel tone and a smooth full-body. Nothing sharp or angular.

Carmel, oak, and wonderful spice notes from the rum cask

More caramel than I've tasted/smelled in a scotch. So mellow. 15 and 12 year are more similar to each other than this. So smooth. Love it.

Whisky Evening! (Bukit Timah) : [43%, whiskey and sherry casks] Perfumey and rounded nose, along with yet more characteristic butterscotch, woody honey, and honeycomb, now with beeswax. Creamy, juicy, chewy oak and wood spices. Finishes with honeysuckle, coconut and vanilla. Easy (too easy!), textural and an all-round brilliant dram. The classic 12 yr doublewood all grown up!

(Wendy's@WestEnd) [43%, 50ml sampler from Sydney launch] Honey golden in glass, light grassy notes with sweet christmas spices, hint fresh brioche. Sweet and spicy, with more christmas spices and hints espresso. Oily texturality, easy and soft. Finishes with copper notes, burnt orange caramel and apricot stone. Long and focused, thoroughly enjoyable!

Sweet nose with some salinity, oak, and carmel corn notes. Smooth, light, and heathery. Rum notes on the end of the palate and especially on the finish. Quite pleasant.

(Balvenie Warehouse24 Sydney Launch w Geoff) Floral violets and lanolin on nose, rounded with butterscotch and maple syrup. Coconut shavings, soft warm wood, more butterscotch. Rich and deep, dark tropical hardwood. Enjoyable complexity! Watering reveals lacy white florals, varnish, white pepper, anise-seed, toffee, sweet menthol, cinnamon dust, nutmeg - really helps it to express. lovely finish of cocoa, herbs and autumn leaves. Beautiful, complex drop.

Vibrant and oily. Easy drinking. Cinnamon after taste, with interesting burnt orange and caramel. Best unwatered. Fun and expressive - a clever drop well made.

from a purchased sample Nose: A little bit richer than the 12 with all the same basic cereal, malt, honey, and ginger notes. Pepper and more resin than wax. Vanilla frosting. Powdered sugar. Green apple juice and something sour. A touch more fruit -- only a little. Raisin/golden grape. Not the most distinct. I'm getting more notes, but they're way in the margins (of the nose). The nose showed green melon, hints of honey, vanilla and sweet spices. On the palate, it was sweet and velvety with a nice dose of astringency. The finish was medium-long and spicy with hints of vanilla.

Always delightful and tasty! Lighter sweet style cigar pairs nicely. From a preferred old fashioned taste perspective; this is another very well crafted Scotch aged in different types of casks that worked like a charm...like the Balv Doublewood and GM's Nectar D' Or.

Rich, complex, lively and astringent, but has the complexity to hold throughout.
