Mouth filling body with deep fruit and long elegant finish. This wine got better every day it was open. Last day was the seventh day and it was better than the day before. Give this plenty of air and expect to age gracefully, even after 18 years.

Very dry-smelling (as in dusty) on the nose and palate. Faint cherry cola and adobe nose. Palate adds faint red fruits. Probably in some sort of a dumb phase. I didn't give this a ton of air, so it's mostly my fault. I expect better things with my next bottle. 90-.

OC Fratello Offline--Stainless Chards And Petite Sirahs (Fratello's Laguna Niguel) : From magunum, this wine improved as it aired. Early on, I sensed a cologne-like note, almost like new oak, although I still recall this wine to be made mostly in neutral....? Big chocolate, red/black fruits, chocolate covered cherries and still chalky. Seemed to improve as the night went on, and since it did not get a decant prior to pouring, I suspect it will get better overnight. Sean, please …

Blind Unoaked Chardonnay and Petit Sirahs (Fratello's, Laguna Niguel, CA) : Served blind. Ripe nose of caramel and cocoa. Sweet cocoa on the palate showing some signs of oak and heat.

Was underwhelmed by this bottle tonight. Having picked up a mag of it on Winebid a few weeks back, I decided to open my last 750. Overall, I am going to call this bottle flawed, likely TCA. I picked up on what seemed to be corkiness, although at a smaller level. As I swirled the wine over the course of dinner, I'd get the TCA again, slight. The flavors seemed muted, too. It did not seem to have the presence …

I did open the wine last night and have a glass, with tonight doing the same. A load of dark color, a faint hint of stalkiness on the nose. On the palate, a pile of dark/delicious pure blackberry fruit, juicy with lots of dark chocolate (and I believe this wine to be made with neutral oak so it's all about fruit) but not the huge, massive finish I would have expected. Instead, a bit more subtle and yes there is …

BLACK CHERRIES AND LICORICE IN THE NOSE, BLACK CHERRIES AND PLUMS IN THE FLAVOR. MEDIUM LENGTH FINISH STARTED A BIT HARSH BUT SOFTENED AFTER 30 MINUTES.

awesome petite sirah. Black, black, black fruits and loads of rich tannins along with some oak sweetness. Very much in the Foley (Pride, Switchback) mold. Impressive.

2007 OC Petite Sirah Offline (Eldon's Pad) : Another wine I liked a lot, which is a similar experience when Mr. P forced me to enjoy it over the holidays (!!). Spicy, peppery, with a pile of tannin, dark espresso and a huge frame. Perhaps not as big as the 2004 Switchback Ridge but a very nice wine with life ahead of it. Just finished out of the Top 4 for group voting.

True bittersweet chocolate, leather, and black as black can be. Not really a red note in sight here. Just black, stunning, silky and a huge long finish.

A Powerhouse Petite Sirah Tasting (Cafe Esin, San Ramon, CA) : Cotton candy, caramel, candied fruit on the nose. Sweet rounded tannins with caramel, coffee, toffee on the palette. Needs more time to integrate. My number 6 and the group number 4.

Love the Corte Riva Merlot but was really disapointed in this petite. Not as dense and huge as some (which is fine), but I got a real green note which bothered me. Of course like most petites its rough and a tannic beast too, but it just doesnt come together in this wine. The fruit is missing something here.

Very nice nose on this wine with plenty of dark red fruits, smoke and asphalt. The flavors flatten out a bit on the palate with blackberriey, blueberry, coffee. Finish pushes through with some fine tannins and fruit. I was a bit underwhelmed with this bottle and was hoping for a bit more, as it showed so nicely upon release. I'm hoping it's just closed down and will try again in 1-2 years. 88+

No tasting note. A big petite syrah, which was drinking fabulously.
