A fully mature Barossa Shiraz showing concentration, integration and depth. Powerful yet composed, with tertiary complexity now taking the lead. Appearance Deep garnet. Nose Pronounced intensity. Developed. Dried blackberry, prune and fig, alongside leather, liquorice, eucalyptus, blackcurrant, butterscotch, rose and a touch of lavender. Palate Dry, with medium+ acidity, high tannins and high alcohol. Full-bodied with pronounced flavour intensity and a long finish. Conclusion Outstanding quality. Drinking well now; not suitable for further ageing.

Had this in my cellar for 8 years from an auction purchase, my last of 2. The first bottle I tasted 8 years ago, and it had way too much new oak for me, but now 8 years later, that oak disappeared. Where did it go? I had this standing upright for about 6 months, yet could only decant 3/4 of the bottle before those fine sediment bits appeared. Glorious! Big, muscular dark fruit wrapped warmly in present oak. It is a style very much of its time. Can't help but love the tongue coating velvet and long finish. At absolute peak or maybe just past, but the denouement is going to be a long one, lucky for those who still have this.

Colour shows a little garbed maturity but is very deep. Dense cassis-laden nose but there is a touch of raisin and liquorice too. I’m thinking comparisons with Bandol from a hot vintage. This is huge. More of that cassis but a hint of raising again and a slightly dry finish is a bit of a detractor for me. Powerful rather than refined and a bit hot from the alcohol.

I put this fabulous wine at the list with my favorite reds all over the 🌎!!!Great aromas of black 🍒 and plum 😀 from the first time you uncorked it super silky tannins the wine may be at it's peak now a true pleasure to drink it pairing with sausages and lamb kofte!!!

Occasional dinner group. (Restaurant Ode in Dokkum, Netherlands) : In the bouquet still sweet and ripe cherries. On the palate a lot of sweet impressions, ripe blackberries and cherries, but also good and fresh acidity and round and mild, friendly tannin. The wine is fully mature now and not too old yet.

What a stunner. Someone described this as a sea of calmness but this particular bottle was more like a slender yet sleek, quietly powerful wine. The tannins have mellowed but still structurally supports gracefully with appropriate acid. The bouquet is one of berries, flowers and soft vanilla leather. One of the best new worlds I’ve tried.

Wonderfully fresh black fruit on nose and palate with black pepper, anise, and clove notes. Rich and ripe, but managing to maintain enough subtlety and restraint. The old vine concentration here is particularly noteworthy.

I really agree with Forceberry's note here. This was clearly New World, clearly a big wine but never went over the line. A great steak wine. Shared with my parents (non-winos) who thoroughly enjoyed it. Good memories!

This wine does not look or smell like it’s almost 20yo. Nose is powerful and driven by red plum, dark cherry with a background of leather. With air the wine starts showing more dry fruit and nutmeg. Mouth is medium to full bodied. Acidity is gone and tannins fully resolved bc. It’s not heavy and it doesn’t feel 15%. Prune and baking spice flavors lead in a medium finish

Fantastic wine from Barossa, agree with other comments saying this is as good as this region can produce. This is still full-bodied, dark-fruited, with black cherry and plum fruit, and notes of baking spices, mocha and cedar. Creamy and velvety in texture. Great wine and has more yrs to go. Maybe complexity not the best, but who cares!

Dense and very concentrated black fruit with so much anise, black pepper and clove. Clearly so ripe in the manner that is unmistakable for New World style, but with an enticing Old World flavor profile that really thrilled me tonight. Great length and balance.

Purple in color. Soaring aromas of black cherries, black currants, violets bbq smoke and tar. Rich and dense in the mouth with sweet dark berry jam, charcoal, medium (-) acidity, fine tannins making its presence felt and a very long fruit filled finish. This has not aged one bit. Damn good for the genre.
