black with a clear meniscus. On nose, black cherry, tobacco and dill - classic Rioja. On palate, tart cherry, black cherry and slate / mineral note. Medium body, medium tannins and medium+ acidity with a nice long finish. 91+/- CT says drink now but this could age another 5-10 years, easily.

Unfortunately, past its prime. Not much trace left of tannins or acidity, which makes it quite dull. Nice on the nose though - plum, dark cherry, chocolate covered almonds, a bit of leather.

Just opened this and didn't know what to expect - but first thoughts: medium body, bright cherry fruit, light tannins, smooth , has held up well for 30 years - perhaps just an iota pass the peak. Just as good or better the 2nd night.

Rød, litt mot brun. Lukt av litt mørke bær, litt blomster og litt eik. Smaksrik. Relativt kraftig anslag, men litt mindre kraft i midtpartiet og mot slutten. En del syre. Middels lengde. Litt tanniner. Merkbart alderspreg. En elegant og god moden Rioja.

med- intensity transparent brick color with tawny edge. On opening, med intensity herbs are front and center supported by med-intensity dried fruit, mainly plums. Some mushroom flavor and loam complete the picture. Med+ plum skin-like intensity acidity. Long finish. Will check back on this tomorrow maybe. after overnight in frig, then warmed to room temperature: still enjoying this wine. Lots going on.

Freshly red, with a nice nose of mature fruit. Mostly ripe and warm-weather cherry-raspberry with hints of (overripe?) strawberry. Unfortunately, its taste is less delightful, with hints of what should have been earthy fruits and ripe berries, hampered by slightly metallic rubber. While similarly coming across as quite thin. Assuming this 15 y.o. Rioja could have benefited from significantly newer and more prominent oak is probably no quality mark. Lazy tannins and lack of lively freshness did not help alongside …

Agree with other comments...the wine can still gain some if stored in the cellar for a few more years. But overall no disappointment, robust Rioja that blended well with grilled game meat.

Typical Rioja, lots of fruit, vanilla. Soft. Bit leather, bit blackcurrant. Delicious. Bit brickred in colour, still marked curtains, i.e. still power in this wine!

"Dill" on the nose? Will ponder. Otherwise stewed dark fruit, fruit leather, medium to short finish. Smooth if not flat. Uneventful.

Rusted metal aromatics with cherry fruit. In mouth slightly sour and plum fruits dominate with some tobacco leaf and bay leaf as well. Well structured wine but not a special reserve.

Great red, strong curtains, dark red, a bit smokieness on the palette. Fruity, dark berries, dark plumen. Keep it in storage for 2-3 years, at least. Entrecôte, roasted potatoes, bearnaisesauce. Lovely meal, completed with this wine, still Young. Buy more!

Drank over 2 nights - still needs time to add complexity. Dark red color with clear meniscus. On nose, strawberry, red currants, dill/American Oak and leather. Medium body /tannins / acidity with long finish. On palate, dark cherry, plum and black currants - needs time. 90+/- today with room for improvement. Will try again in 2025+

Dark garnet hue. Aromas of black cherry, cherry, earthy, leather, oak, pepper, plum, raspberry, and rubber. Full body, with high tannins and high acidity. Palate is smooth and textured. A very good Rioja to drink at its peak right now.

A nice light rioja and decent quality relative to price. Its labelled a Gran Reserva and with it comes a higher expectation. Its easy drinking and easy to put back, but not a gran in my humble opinion.

Another Rioja! I fell in love with this region when I was working in Spain several years ago: I was impressed at how Rioja wines are both approachable and food friendly while, if one takes the time to pick them apart, maintaining a good degree of complexity despite generally being cheaper than their French neighbors. Deep ruby color. Upon opening the nose presented initial notes of mint and cloves, though this settles down a bit and, though it remains herbaceous, …

Dark ruby color. On the nose, strong black fruit notes but secondary characteristics are already coming through. Vanilla, baking spices, earth. On the palate, ripe blackberry, ripe raspberry. Crushed stone, baking spices. Very balanced and a medium length finish with a touch of alcohol. Showing its age, but good.

Just had to open given my experience with the 08'. These are wines are so good and value driven. Cherry dominant, mildly acidic, but wow I'd the fruit present ! Disregard some of the scores here as this wine has old world characteristics which are difficult to achieve and notable for such a big producer.

Aged beautifully. Some black cherry cola and mature red apple fruit, with a gorgeous vanilla oak note that admittedly overwhelmed the fruit a bit, even if it was very high-quality. I wouldn't wait much longer, might have been better several years ago when the fruit could sing a little louder, but overall a great bottle.

A pretty textbook Rioja with tart cherry, dill and some vanilla from American oak, and hints of fresh herb. M tannin, M to M+ acid, M body. Nice and balanced but not especially complex. Fruit forward but by no means overripe. This feels more like a reserva than gran reserva just as their reserva is more like a crianza. This is more Rioja of course because of the oak, and I like it fine, but at this price there are …

The wine is clean medium ruby. On the nose, the wine is clear. It has medium intensity with aromas of red currant, red cherry, nutiness, toast, leather, violet, cedar, dill, black olive, chocolate. It's developing. On the palate, the wine is dry. It has medium+ acidity, medium tannins (smooth), high alcohol, medium+ body, medium flavour intensity. This wine was an off red ruby colored wine with quick to medium legs. To the nose complex notes of mineral, forest floor & mushrooms with hints of cherry were very prevalent. The body was light with an extremely smooth texture and short finish. A very enjoyable wine for the price that I would highly recommend in future.
