With a bunch of clove on the nose and some wood to it. And soft and round on the palate easy and rich and nothing not to like.

Compared to the Château de Cèdre Heritage this wine showed more balance and gentle fruit in the bouquet and in the taste, finishing with good bitters and firm bitters.

The nose was riddled with smoky cassis notes while the palate seemed quite young for an 8 year old wine: nice blackberry sweetness, along with vanilla oak, and dried currants ... Within 2 hours the wine takes a funny turn and goes very earthy - it was definitely a drink now (upon opening) kinda wine.

I was worried this might not be good after sitting for so long, but it was rather good. If anybody still has some, it's still good to drink.

N: cherries and roses. Lovely. Hint of earthiness. Very pretty. Not jammy. P: perfumey Moderately balanced only higher in alcohol than expected. Needs a little time to open up. Longer tannins an moderate minerality.

This was just OK! Did not stand out in any way. I was clearly disappointed. Strong kick and a very flat finish. Only would buy as a stand in everyday. Wine.

Good everyday Malbec. Medium bodied. Less grapey, with a rounder flavor profile than many inexpensive Malbecs. Soft tannins. Held up well over three days. Good QPR. 14.5% alcohol.

Fresh, dark and chewy; blackcurrants, black raspberries and chocolate on the nose; lush, almost sweet dark fruit flavors, but nice bright acidity, some bitter mocha, a savory note, and lovely chewy tannins for balance; long, dark, slightly bitter tannic finish, with black cherries and finally weeds at the very end. Much better on the second day - everything came together. Another terrific value from the Princeton Wegmans bargain section.

Cola, birch, cherry, but mostly more cola. Sweet opening, mild cocoa and brown sugar, some citrus rind and yet more cola. Some tomato paste even, a sweet variety. Not too long on the palette though. Tastes happy.

ChTR kokous 27.04.2011 (SKO-toimisto) : Decanted for an hour, tasted double blind. A rather dark purple red in the glass. The nose was very much cassis with a hint of orange peel, seemed much more elegant than the other wine we had. Faiirly sweet on the palate, somewhat simple and juice-like, very little tannins, lots of fruit. This was ok, a bit on the sweet side for me, especially when had with aged gouda. I was guessing South America for …

A bit conservative at first. Muted nose of dark fruits, but Malbec varietal came through. Improved with time and on day two, which is strange for a $10 bottle. I found a sort of sophistication and structure with this which impressed me, but for a mid-week wine, it was a bit boring.

ChTR kokous 03.11.2010 (SKO-toimisto) : Decanted for an hour, tasted double blind. This was a really dark wine, almost black, with a violet edge to it. The nose was full on fruity, cassis, a bit of oak, coffee and caramel. On the palate, yeps, this is a fruit bomb, lots and lots of dark fruit, somewhat sweet, not really any tannins, so full bodied that it's almost thick. Some people use the term slutty wine, this is it. Not actually …

Quite powerful and muscular with a certain degree of tightness. This was evident even with 5 years of aging in the Kaiken Ultra 2004. Black Cherry, lavander, toasted oak. Needs air for at least 15 minutes. It just wasn't that approachable upon tasting. Quite tight, densely packed and backward. Best from 2012 to 2017.

Has an earthy nose with some red berries I can't really identify. Palate is smooth, good acidity and fine tannin, with a touch of toast and scorched earth. Agree with the Chilean/eucalyptus note of Lumpyelbow. Reasonable finish of tar, earth, and red fruit. Simple, pleasant, but balanced and not overdone in any way. Quite enjoyable for the price and good acidity to go with food. Enjoyed more than a recent Achaval-Ferrer.

Still enjoyable but not so sure about my previous "pass for $40" comment. Day 2 saw this mellow considerably, a remaining mentholated note reminded me of Chile. The malbec character was still there along with herbs (oregano et al). Texture was slightly syrupy, tannins were fine grained but quite a bit more bitter than the night before.

A bright bouquet of black fruits with a little cedar. In the mouth, you find juicy flavors of currants and blackberry with some anise lurking in the back that gives a lively edge to the package. The finish is short to average, it has decent balance, but it is the nose and taste that make this one a nice value for the price. Will definitely purchase more.

nose: nice nose of red fruits, dark fruits, red currants, and dark berries. Very nice nose that has decent depth taste: good medium body with good tones of red fruits, red currants, and some red cherries overall: a very good malbec for the price. has decent depth on both the nose and palate. Easy drinking with nice balance that is very enjoyable for a malbec in this price range

I think this was a bit too cold last evening when we first tried it with smokehouse bbq pork ribs; there was not much fruit on display. However, today (day 2, warmer), this is full-bodied with smoothed out tannins and juicy currant and blackberry! Much nicer than last evening dining outdoors.

Vin fait par Aurelio Montès en Argentine. Lourd, alcool présent, fruit noir écrasé par le cèdre. Une déception. Rien à voir avec ce que j'ai goûté de ce producteur jusqu'à date.

Deep purple ruby; sweet deep dark berry, blackberry and note of herbal spice on the nose. Sweet dark fruit on the medium to full palate. The tannins are suppressed, the sweet fruit prevails, the acidity is not holding things together here either, which starts to put this wine in another camp for me. This vintage is about smoothness and sweet fruit. It was made to be a (real) fruit bomb. The last vintage was heading in this direction but I …
