Very interesting experience. Ordered at the start of dinner. Decanted perhaps an hour. Nose was lovely but tight, and the wine was wanting for depth. It seemed to take on weight as the night went on, and the fruit become more pronounced. This seemed like a very 2017-at-the-moment phenomenon to me, but it was also my first La Tache experience, so who am I to say? Overall a bit quiet, reticent. The finish was unlike anything I've ever experienced: exceptionally …

DRC La Tache - vertical 1966-2015 : Light and filigreed, the 2017 La Tâche glides across the palate with effortless grace. The bouquet is lifted and finely etched—cranberry, rose petal, and a gentle stemmy perfume lending tension and verve. On the palate, this is all about poise and understatement: a velvet glove rather than a clenched fist. Sublime elegance, almost ethereal.

Perhaps the finest wine in my adult memory. Mid shoulder fill with excellent color. As the cork (intact) was being removed, the aromatics immediately hit me. Very fine, intoxicating bouquet that truly jumps from the glass. There is an undeniable gaminess to this wine that adds another dimension of complexity above and beyond the fruit and truffle-like sous bois. Specacular treat shared by a great collector who has devotedly cellared several bottles since release.

In stark contrast to the DRC Romanée-Conti that it was drunk alongside, this La Tâche got a single formal note from me - a wine of pure emotion, capable of moving grown adults to the brink of tears from its sheer brilliance. Hyperbole, yes, but only slightly. So lucky to have a vintage of this which was so approachable even in youth, which meant that you got to enjoy the whole gamut of Asian spices that DRC does so well. …

Ojai Food + Wine Festival 2025; 3/13/2025-3/16/2025 (Ojai, California) : This is still young but immensely approachable even on PnP and just utterly delicious, spectacular perfect wine for me. Silky, smooth, light, ethereal… just lovely. The kind of wine that makes you never want to drink anything else ever again (if you can take out a fourth mortgage to make that happen). Feel blessed to have experienced it.

1969 La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti I have had the good fortune to have had this wine many times over the years as 1969 is my birth year. IMO the 1969 La Tâche has been consistently delicious over the decades. This particular bottle was off the charts—one of the finest examples I have ever encountered. From the moment the cork was extracted from a bottle with 6cm of ullage i might add, the room was filled with an intoxicating …

I had this c1976. With parents, brother and his girl friend, who had given up drinking. Once uncorked, it filled the room with a heavenly perfume and the girl friend changed her mind. Marvelous stuff. Despite youth, no tannic intrusion. $25 (but that is well over a C-note in today's currency). One of my all time favorites. 5 stars.

Drunk with a RMC 16. The LT was already drinking beautifully and at this stage was able to hold its own and more with the RMC which was unsurprisingly a little more restrained. Obviously just a point in time but both lovely and a privilege to drink

one of the best young burgundy I’ve tasted by a country mile. So generous and giving that you think it has ulterior motives. Everything you love about La Tache - that vivid pantry worth of spice, powerful saturation of berry, long deep finish. Just wrapped with a youthful sheen.

As many 2017 red Burgs, this is surprisingly open and ready. Silky soft tannins are not in the way of enjoyment. Lovely spice and hints of red roses I. The nose. Good length but still rather on the light side. Bottle 05921

Bottle 18470, taken to a restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday. What can I say, it was an incredible bottle. Pretty open from the first pour with strawberry and beautiful nose of DRC stem and rose bush. High toned yet not in your face. Over time caramel notes. The finish was not the longest nor most powerful but at this stage it’s pure hedonism. Outperforms LT ‘06 we had last year but at this stage it’s a bit tightly coiled …

Always great fun with wines like these, whatever the quality level. This bottle was a touch tired, but nothing was out of whack. Just an old wine giving us some enjoyment and making us work for the rest of it. Fair enough for a 1969 vintage LT.

Immediately expressive and giving. A beautiful nose of rose petals, raspberry, black cherry and Hoisin. The palate was so silky and voluminous. Fruit flavours are intense and it is light on its feet but possesses sneaky power. It builds then fans out and spice flavours linger. Great proportion and balance.

Initially on the nose was red cherry, strawberries, violets, oak, vanilla, light spices — extremely pleasant and intoxicating like a nice perfume but not overwhelming. Being relatively young, there was no funk and it smelled amazing right out of the bottle. First time I truly appreciated the word “bouquet” used to describe the nose of a wine. On the palate was a rich beginning and intensity of the aforementioned red fruit but also black fruit (mainly plums), which faded into …

2017 DRC La Tache was one of the greatest young red Burgundy I have ever tasted. It was an epiphany, causing me to completely reconsider what I thought I knew about the aging curve of red Burgundy. I had thought it was absolutely necessary to have at the very least 15 years of age to get something profound, and usually quite a bit longer. This wine proved that it's possible to get the magic without the age. Surely still a …

I felt this wine was starting to fade but it had an incredible mouthfeel. The power and structure coated the palate with a long finish such as I have never tasted. Admittedly this was my first time drinking such an old DRC wine. The brownish red wine seemed tinged with gold in the glass. Dark fruit and soft tannins but maybe past its prime. A joyous experience nevertheless with great friends at the Palais Coburg in Vienna.

I stored this wine for over forty years. It was decanted for one hour. The color was garnet red with a generous brown edge. The nose was quite forward with a red fruit and leather quality. The body was full and again cherry accented with enough tannins to give it real structure. The finish was lingering and delightful.

62 Night. Dinner was organized around this bottle, Broadbent's and Meadow's wine of the century, and 62 RC for comparison. Table preferred this to RC. True greatness, so much going on here it's difficult to capture. The aromas were floral, fresh, mint and jumping. Palate was sweet, very delicate, incredibly clean red fruit. Subtlety, purity, balance and complexity came to mind over 2-3 hours. Slightly roasted ending. Notice the case production, yields very different back then... (20067/26740)
