At 25 it’s drinking at its peak. Simply a beautiful, aged cab with notes of sour cherry, dried cranberries, bay leaf and laurel, and a hint of sweetness. Medium bodied, it’s light on its feet, sleek, and never overwrought. A beautiful, seamless finish with a nice lift from the slight acidity. Beautiful stuff that was perfect with a 5 hour slow braised pot roast. This is NOT a club you over the head California Cab. Elegance in a glass.

AW91. Wonderfully aged tuscan fruit at circa 25 years, very tawny, smooth med-long finish. Balsamic and dried fruits - a surprise and very enjoyable

A hit from Garagiste. Nice wine that still holds up well but unmistakably aged with very smooth and complex palate of red fruit, flowers and spice

This wine is still drinking exceptionally well. Lots of pyrazine driven peppery flavors.

having tonight with london broil, butternut squash, decanting at the moment, ended up very nice, the ladies liked the larkin better but I thought this paired very well with the dinner

Out of bottle very dry and earthy. Decanted for sediment. An hour in showing oak, stewed fruit and herbal notes. Still somewhat jammy for the age.

3rd bottle at the Coravin porcheta party, I liked this one the best, half bottle left for later consumption so I used the Coravin again last night (5/5/20)to taste again and couldn't get the wine to pour so I popped the cork and found it to be really cloudy even with screening it. I'm wondering if this might be why it didn't work well with the Coravin, cork was extremely hard to get out, didn't break but crazy hard.

This bottle has a little mustiness which takes a while to blow off. Otherwise it's a lovely mature and fairly rich cab with some Italian sweetness of fruit, the remnants of tannins are just about still there, nice savoury finish

Big beautiful wine. I've been holding on to this for a while and it was worth it. It's still a beast of a Cab; eaten with spiced venison.

Giacomo Tachis: Racconta (AIS, Parco dei Principi, Rome) : Dark ruby core, garnet rim, dense. Very potent on nose, with rich red fruit, heavy minerality, clean earth and oak, roasted/sugared nuts. Aromatically, it continued to evolve nicely in the glass. On palate – yum – same as nose, with more savouriness; high level of ripe/smooth tannins, high acidity, good use of oak. Super concentrated, full-bodied, rich and opulent. Nicely complex; moderate in length (a little short at the mid palate).
