Another nice bottle, my notes aren't really any different. Big and powerful, it really needs some air to open. A nice match for beef tenderloin and roasted vegetables (brussel sprouts, butternut squash, leeks, and fresh thyme/sage).

This was a very nice treat for $25, impossible to find any Bandol close to this price . Nice mourvedre funk on the nose. Deep purple. Blackberry, black mission figs, anise, black pepper, garrigue, and earthy. Nice pairing with 13 bean/vegetable/sausage soup and skillet corn bread.

100% old vine Mourvedre. Herb, black cherry, wet stone, and smoke on the nose. Sauvage. Good acidity keeps this big wine fleet-footed and graceful. Provencal herbs, red meat, and iron fill out the palate, which finishes long, with light tannin on the sides of the mouth. Some sweet smokiness. I'd give it a couple more years, but this is very enjoyable now. Compare to the best of Bandol.

Bold and powerful aromatics. This is good stuff going on here. Whew. Great Mourvedre.

Nothing to add to Jan 2011 note. Excellent wine now but will keep for years. Note to self: buy more!

90% - 100 year old Mourvedre. Very open and expressive. Richly wild and gamey, and then touches candied black licorice fruit. And then grip and massive. As she notes you can drink it now but

My first bottle of the '07 La Bolida. Popped and poured. Dark clear garnet. Nose of plum, fig, smoked meat, dust, and licorice. Big juicy palate of black cherry, plum, fig, and licorice. Excellent length. Pleasant acidity. youthful tannins. Harmonious and delicious.

Aromas of smoked meat, dark fruit, a creaminess from malo, graham cracker, oak and orange peel. Spicy on the palate with higher-toned black and red berry fruit with soft ripe tannins and good acid. Nicely balanced overall with good length.
