PnP first night, tasted again the next night. Pastrami, black olive, dried herbs. The second night, the cured meat was more subdued but blue and black fruits emerged. Drinking well. I enjoyed it more on the first night.

This has an interesting nose, with all of the strong non-fruit aromas this region is known for, but, as is often my experience with these wines, none of it feels as satisfying as those similar notes do on a N. Rhone Syrah. These tend towards a lot of tar and rubber notes with less herb and animale than you'd expect from a French Syrah. The tar lingers but the finish seems rather thin, which is a bit surprising. Overall, this …

Second time tasted since June. Dark garnet, opaque. This bottle did not have as pronounced roasted meat, smoke as the previous one, just a nice, round, smooth syrah. Perfectly drinkable, fully mature but will easily last several more years. Ric

Very cool Syrah. Big barnyard aromas the took 30 min plus to blow off. Wet stone and raw meat predominate. Fruit emerged as. It spent time in the glass. Long and complex. Really enjoyable.

The essence of what a great Cayuse or Reynvaan syrah should be. Very pronounced "barnyard" aromas, which some like and others don't...earth, leather, roasted meat, complex. Ruby and translucent, medium body but smooth and complex, at its peak. Very enjoyable now but should hold another few years. Ric

Similar notes from previous review in 2022, but give this bottle 30 minutes of air to let some of the funk blow off the it turns magical, with floral aromas and red fruits come to life on the palate. Delicious with smoked lamb loin chops.

Yum. Finished way too quickly, high delicious factor. Meaty funk, olive, raspberry, violet, a little tight, yet nicely complex. World class on the palate, medium bodied, bright and fresh, red fruit and garrigue with floral inner aromas, long finish. Light, integrated tannins. Very Burgundian/elegant style. Drink or hold, will age on balance, though quite lovely at present.

Appearance - clear, medium plus ruby. Nose - day 2. The beautiful aromas are emerging from the glass while sitting on counter. Lovely ripe balanced fruit. Dark berries. Baking spices. Bramble feel. The nose gets more interesting as you swirl and sniff. You can start to pull more of that sweaty animal quality. Feels a bit high alcohol on nose. Some fumes. Feel like in time this will keep blending and getting more interesting. Palate - quite delicious. Lush. Blueberry …

Value for price - bought from winery this summer after a tasting, not worth the price but is still an enjoyable wine. I read through past reviews on this site and I don’t get the sense from the past notes and what I’m tasting now that I can expect much positive new change. Enjoy it now vs hold. Here are my notes: after 2 hour decant Appearance - Clear, deep, ruby. Opaque Nose - clean, youthful, huge on the delicious …

Opened and decanted for ~30 minutes. Like many others the Rocks funk was the initial and predominate aroma. Peeking out behind the funk was some blue and black fruit. on the palate good balance of acidity and tannins and minerality. A decent finish of 15+ seconds. 2nd day - Maybe a bit more relaxed acidity and tannins but the funk, fruit and minerality not much changed from Day 1. Enjoy!

Had all the right stuff for about 90 mins but after that it seemed to fall apart. Lost all its rocks mojo and was rather thin, light and slightly sour on the end.

Splash decanted off fine sediment. First of three from auction. Nice distinctive rocks funk on the nose. Blackberry, plum, saline, and pepper on the palate. Relatively light bodied for a Syrah, fresh acidity, tannins fully resolved.

Open in the bottle for a couple hours. Nose is a little shy but there are some white pepper and briny notes with a hint of raisins. Palate is thinning out a little as it gets air, which is unfortunate, but the tastes are great: beef broth, mushroom, olives and a little cherry. Interested to see what the body is like tomorrow.

Brief note next day: Quite savory – notes of cured meats. Rocks AVA funk made the wine a bit overpowering by itself but very good with grilled food.

Une coche au dessus de ma dernière bouteille. A son apogée selon moi et le restera encore quelques années. Définitivement mon genre de syrah!

PnP first night then tasted again the next night. Mesquite (less noticeable night 2), red licorice, mineral, pepper and a mix of olive and salinity reminiscent of olive brine. More enjoyable the first night for me.

Scored WOTN matched against 9 WA Syrahs at CT Seattle offline blind tasting. Barnyard but clean, cranberry finish. Low/medium acid, long finish, balanced. Possibly at peak - rocks perfection!

This is coming into its own and is a great spot. I’ve had enough Reynvaan’s to know how great they are on day 2, but this was a joy on day 1. Day 2 wasn’t plausible. The alluvial elements have settled into the smoky fruit profile. It has a fun mid-palate Maldon salt pop with a dash of white pepper, but there’s a nice resolve of tar, fig and plum on the finish. Love what Matt & team are doing …

PnP, tasted over two hours then again the following night. Hot road tar, wet stone, smoked meat, olive the first night, all of which was more subdued night#2 but with added notes of blueberry and bay leaf. Drinking well. A delicious wine.

Popped and poured. This is a ruby red wine. On the nose, I get some brine, beef jerky, and cracked pepper. In the mouth, this is initially savory but folds into some sweet black fruits. The finish displays salt, funk, and black olive. Overall, this is a nice wine that is more restrained than a lot of Walla Walla Syrahs. 92 points.
