Fattoria Le Poggette Montepulciano Umbria Torre Maggiore

Well-made with cherries and some oak. High in alcohol. Needs decanting to let it mellow. Best drunk with food.

Decanted for about ½ hour. Aromas of dark cherries and some oak on the nose. Medium bodied, quite vibrant flavors of dark sweet cherries accompanied with a dusty tannic grip and some oak on the lingering finish. Felt rather supple and smooth despite of the tannins. Much better with food. Reminds a lot of chianti though different varietal (Montepulciano). Overall, a solid and good wine that needs food to pair with and a couple of more years in the cellar.
