Last bottle wasn't quite right, but this one is fine again. PNP and immediately ready to go, and drank over 4 days fine. No hurry.

Deep ruby. Pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, black berry, red plum, violet, cedar, dried fruits. High acidity, high tannin. Long refreshing finish. This is outstanding and is great value. Wish I had more! Not 100% clear to me why the community does not rate this higher.

It was so velvety this time. You can tell that next to a "proper" claret it would probably seem a bit thin. But if you don't put it to that test, it is just so hedonistic and enjoyable. Really is one of the best bargains on the planet - if you keep it to this kind of an age.

At its best on the 3rd day. It was, by then, so open and fragrant my wife could smell it from across the room.

Drunk over 4 days, was at its most open and developed on the 4th day, so clearly can be kept several years yet. Trouble will be keeping my hands off it, now I've taken delivery of my 2nd case.

THis is drinking very well now. Balanced palate with fine soft tannins. No secondary traits. Nothing extraordinary but fine food wine and excellent QPR

Finally feel confident of what I am tasting. Now has a huge, open, lovely rich brambly fruit, which more than adequately covers the still substantial tannins. It was good to decant it some time in advance, and drink it with food. But I guess if you approach it in the wrong way, that tannin might still be a bit obtrusive. It's thrown a substantial deposit, including a firmly attached black coating on the shoulder of the bottle. For me, this …

Surprisingly tannic still when tasted without food but pairs wonderfully with a beef stew

Similar tasting notes. This wine has stood the test of time. Remarkable quality at this price point. The joys of well selected Bordeaux! Three cheers! Still 1-2 years left but don’t wait

Despite regularly buying this wine en primeur I tend to underestimate it and am usually pleasantly surprised at its quality when opening a bottle. This 2009 is no exception. It is now showing some orange on the rim with rich black fruit and woody notes on the nose. On the palate there are notes of plums, blackcurrants wrapped in grippy tannins that are never harsh but add a touch of austerity, perfect with many foods. Considering the price range (£12/€13 …

This is just lovely wine with good core of purity and in an ideal drinking window now. Modest in ambition without huge extraction or complexity, this is a highly satisfying food wine that does so well what a wine of this pedigree can do. OUtstanding QPR

This bottle was much improved. The soapiness had morphed to Violets and the alcohol was much less pronounced. Cherries, blackberries and violets with a touch of forest floor and dusty leather. Fruit nicely offset by acid and light tannin. Good fine finish. Nothing very special but a good everyday claret.

Slightly soapy which spoils an otherwise pleasant everyday claret. Dry and slightly dusty but still with plenty of fruit. A bit too much alcohol giving a long hot finish. Feels a bit subdued and will probably not improve with further cellaring. Drink up.

Best on the first day. The plum fruit and rustic profile were best in balance. Very closed and unappealing on the second day. On the third it was tannic in a rustic way but too alcoholic and not balanced.

Tried alongside another St EMilion I think this was not as smooth and thinking about why that may be, it was slightly newer and the exact make up of this wine was not declared on the label but it seemed to have less Cab Franc and that may account for the slightly less roundness. This is fine, but not special though was a relatively cheap bottle which one should always remember!

Smoke, savoury toasted oak, cocoa powder and cedar aromas. Medium bodied with quite luscious ripe fruit. Plum, fruitcake and well integrated, savoury oak. Slightly dry finish. Good value.

Tendency towards fruit forward with a 14.5% alcohol. Backed up by red meat, minerals and wood. A nice everyday drinker that shows more interesting flavors than new world wines costing 2-3 times the price. A Garagiste winner!

Jammy and simple on opening, this gained markedly in complexity over several hours. By the end of the bottle, it showed some nice graphite notes and strong tannins. This probably can use a little more time.

Solid, slightly structured St Emilion, with plummy cassis in the nose, no flaws, but in the mouth a bit watered down which is suprising given the 14.5 alc. Tasted lots better the next day (seems to be a trend). Great bargain for every day drinking and will get better with 5+ years.

Nutmeg, cedar, chocolate and raspberries, followed by a decidedly minty and fresh experience, and a cigar-box finish. Also very much in abundance is the aroma of brioche just out of the oven. Very good.

Was served in the restaurant immediately after opening and and showed it - not very accessible. Having had a glass as an aperitif, but switched to white for a fish starter - I went back to it - and was smooth and silky - the difference that 30-45 minutes makes - unfortunately that was the last time I could leave a glass that long. A good basic claret and if decanted will reward the drinker
