A brilliant gold colour in the glass. Caramel and apple on the nose. On the palate it's honey, pear, apricot, tinned peaches, melon. There's still plenty of acidity to balance the sweetness here. Medium+ finish. Outstanding! I'm already looking forward to trying the 1998 at Christmas.

could not be better IMO. Served with a Chicory, Walnut & Stilton salad for lunch, what treat. Everything you would expect, and hope, of an Auslese of the Mosel from a top producer. Kudos Thomas Haag

Amazing. Really delivers. Fruits on the nose and lychee all the way through the palete. The only critiscim could be you might want it to be a little longer in the mouth. For me it is perfect and maybe I have under scored it. The mosel acidity and smoothness are so beguiling.

TWS Group German Tasting (Must & Lees) : Great to have this twice in a fortnight and - even better - my notes are pretty consistent, so at least I'm not totally making it up as I go along. Golden in the glass with gentle notes of botrytis, honey, green and ripe mango, white pepper. Sweet and mouth-filling but there's really wonderful clarity and a clean, inviting finish.

Germany (Must and Lees, N1) : Toffee and caramel on the nose stood out for me, with crispy burnt edges. I actually found this less sweet than the older Spatlese. This has considerable body, and feels if anything a bit weighty. A fine mix of candy and tropcial fruit, this is for a small glass towards the end of an evening.

This showed really well: clean, clear, precise and luxurious all at once. Apricot, peach and pineapple, just a touch of botrytised character, still youthful. Fantastically well balanced on the palate - beautiful concentration, sharp acidity keeps everything so clean, a little botrytis bitterness. The residual sugar just flows away on the palate - nothing gloopy or heavy here- a lovely wine.

Soiled bottle so was expecting the worst, and indeed the cork was soaked through. However, apart from a very slight spritz (which oddly became more pronounced the longer it was open), absolutely no damage appeared to have been suffered, and it was everything that we could have hoped it would be. Brilliantly balanced, albeit that it's seemingly still got a long way to develop.

light yellow colour still with green tinge, fine intense honeyed nose, hints of pineapple, palate also honeyed, complex, rich but not at all heavy, again really fine with sufficient acidity hidden in the lusciousness fruit to provide a fresh long finish, lovely, thoroughly deserving of its gold capsule, perfect to drink right now

Fizzing with a sort of sulphur intensity. The fruit is deep with barley sugar and golden syrup (thank you Jancis Robinson for the syrup descriptor). Acidity cleans it out but it is not fierce, so there is more sweetness than I may have expected.

Just lovely! Great Riesling nose, plenty ripe fruits, including pineapple, lime and pear. Plus honey. And all balanced beautifully by the fine acidity. Very long. The perfect "transition" wine in a longish dinner.

This was from Magnum and showed very well - it is a delight with lots of sweetness and still some acidity despite the hot vintage. The relatively modest score is due to the lack of distinct special characteristics - however it is still a highly enjoyable wine.

Good - but not great. Nicely ripe (and less sweet than I was expecting), this is fresh on the palate and in no way flabby. But it doesn't have that ripping acid I expect from Lieser. In short, a pleasant bottle but not a thrilling one.

Dinner at Tetsuya's : From 750ml. Apple, pineapple, ginger, spice and honey aromas - quite intoxicating! It has fairly intense sweetness but the balance overall is excellent with a wave of acid coursing across the palate. A little bit in-between youthful exuberance and the complexities that come with more age, but still delicious.

Excellent stuff as it is getting very integrated. Plenty of fruit and mineral on the nose and palate. Pitted orchard fruit and white flowers, the acidity is not clearly present, yet this is due to integration as this is quite sweet, yet there is no cloying and is still light on the palate. Long finish and paired really well with a spicy Moroccan goat stew.

excellent qpr. Notes almost exactly like the previous bottles. Much better on day 2 with sweet red apple, white peaches and apricot with a lie acidic and mineral driven backbone. Not in the same realm as JJ Prum, but not in the same price group either.

while I really enjoyed this, I was already the good part of a bottle into the wind. Still a fun wine to share with NJ SIL and BIL.

Very concerned when I removed the capsule, because there was a black scum substance living on the top of the cork. After I pulled the cork, nothing to worry. a wee bit of sulphur and petrol on the nose, but white flowers candied apples and apricots. here was a flint like quality. Like little pricks on your tongue. creamy finish with a hint of lemon zest in the wines acid. decent finish.

Farewell Party (Morton's) : Wow!Kero lifted , white spices , florals, ripe pineapples, lemon lime and sour plum powder. Excellent acidity bringing this to live in the mouth. Delicious wine with very attractive balance. Finish lingers and gently retires into the throat...soothing the savage beast...yummmy! This has opened up a lot more now.

Joyce's Birthday Dinner (The Universal @ Duxton Hill) : Very young, very deeply layered and rather monolithic at this stage, but drinking very yummily even now. An exceptionally good pairing with yuzu sherbet and fruit cocktail too. Nose opened up with whiffs of earthy bean sprouts, pears and whiffs of D24 Durian. Surely a bit of sulphur action going on there. It all toned down after some time to show white fruit and some cream though. On the palate, rich, …

Nice star bright gold. Rich deep yellow apples, honey, marmalade and toffee. Nice long finish. Very viscous. Lovely and surprisingly refreshing for a sweet Riesling.

Rudi Weist German Tasting (presented by David Bowler) (Tribeca Grill) : Serious wine, medium body but not a sugar bomb, needs wime to uncoil but will shine. Loads of layers here.
