Beautiful bright ruby color with a slight cloudiness. The nose is smothering, suffocating with its notes of bright red fruits on a background of tar. The nose vacillates between sweet and savory. Very complex wine that drinks like a hypothetical Jagermeister soda pop. Notes of bitter herbs, coffee, white pepper, cassis, black pepper, sweet plums, and seeet red berries . Nose of cherry and oak. Second nose really opens up with more cherry, smoke, and a bit of oak. Smooth on entry and throughout the palate. Dark cherry flavor with well balanced attributes. Ideal drinking window.

Poured through Soirée aerator into normal decanter and drank one hour later. Very deep dark purple magenta color. Blackberry, boysenberry, toffee cream, and cinnamon toast. Super smooth palate. Plush, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish. My very first Aonair and I’m impressed. @Shine John, DPM, FACFAS was kind enough to pour this for us at his place. I’ll need to visit the winery at some point.

Dark garnet/violet in color. Nose of black Cherry compote, blueberry, and barn wood. Second nose more of the same and strawberry jam. Attacks the palate with acidity and finishes dry.

Dark ruby in color. Nose of oak, cigar box, and dark berries. Not a lot of nose. Opens up with Wild strawberry, cocoa dust, and gravel. Oak and dark fruit flavors. Tanic on entry. Could easily cellar for another ten years.

Dark inky purple in color. First nose of dark fruits, plum, and oak. Second nose opens up with dark cherry, raspberry, cola, and a bit of vanilla. Smooth with a building and lingering dryness in the back of the mouth. Oak and cherry flavors.

Very dark and inky. First nose is not very strong but smells of dark berry and oak. Second nose of dark berries, oak, cola, and vanilla. Smooth with dark berries and oak on the palate.

Inky violet in color. Nose of deep dark fruits. Blueberry and plum. Second nose is more of the same and oak. Smooth and fruit forward. Finish long and dry.

Kind of an interesting wine. Garnet red pour. This is a deeper and slightly darker wine than the 2011 non-proprietary. It is smoky and darker red fruit. But has some sharp acidity throughout... Is a bit out of balance. Some herbal character in the finish. I think this one really needs to be cellared a little longer but this is the only one I have. Makes me wonder if the 15 Mtn Proprietary I have is gonna outlive me!

Sadly this is our last bottle...should of checked before we opened it. Dark purplish ruby red. Dark nose with layers of sweet spices, cassis, tobacco, gunpowder cocoa, and a hint of gravel undertone. Medium tannins (6/10) and medium plus body. Solid acidity with grave throughout. Layered palate with notes of licorice, dark cherries, cassis, sweet spices and a touch of earthiness. Long finish. Drink till 2026.

Dark purplish ruby red. Dark spices on the attack of the nose with notes of black currants, cassis, tobacco, gunpowder and a hint savory underneath. Medium tannins (6.5/10) and medium to medium plus body. Solid acidity and still a bit young. Layered palate with notes of aniseed, black cherries, blackberries, cinnamon, vanilla, and gravel. Long finish. Drink till 2026.

wow, excellent, very good. so rich, extracted and beastly, big on both the nose and the palate. delicious wine, definitely cabernet but the big extracted style leaves me wondering what mixture of grapes or vineyards are these? Still fantastic, regardless.

Gosh, these Aonair wines are so freaking good. Grant Long is a phenomenal winemaker and every single vintage and every single wine I've had from him has just been out of the park. This Mountain Proprietary wine needs a decant before enjoying as opposed to his Cabernet bottle. Deep and dark ruby red that coats the glass. Layered nose but young with dark cocoa, dark raspberries, cinnamon, some black fruits and spices. Heavy tanins (7/10) and medium plus body. Needed a couple hours to open up and beef up. Rich palate with black fruits, mountain berries, sweet spices and dark gravel. Definitely darker on day two with thicker fruits. Long finish. Drink from 2018 till 2028.

Found this older vintage at Wine Watch in Fort Lauderdale. Deep garnet red. Layered nose with notes of dark cocoa leaves, blackberries, boysenberry, a semi hickory smoke and something almost like truffles. Medium bodied with moderate tannins (6/10). Started off tight and crispy with strawberries and mountain berries. As it aired out some more earthy notes appeared with some wet dirt. Medium plus finish with a little greenery. Drink till 2020.

When we tried it at the winery about a month ago it was the last visit of the day and I didn't end up taking notes so glad to add something now. This was my favorite of the flight at Aonair. It's a blend of mountain cabs - the four main appellations plus Atlas Peak.
