Seems blatantly contrarian to defy the last 10+ years' worth of reviews of this wine -- but am compelled to do so, cuz this one of mine tonight is an impressive drink; how can a decade+ of dumping seem so misplaced? This bottle, stored without any other intervention in a cellar 8 feet underground, in a place where summertime heat is routinely 100+, seems to have negotiated the vicissitudes of global warming with aplomb. Great fruit still, lovely aged silkiness, …

Cork came out in one piece, had minimal expectations for a 30 year old table wine but this was still alive and kicking. Acidity and dark fruit very much present, but fleeting.

Black cherry and earth bouquet displays a matchstick-like reduction. The smoky, dark-fruited palate shows good balance and integration, and although still enjoyable, it's showing its age. It closes with pleasant notes of espresso and crushed rocks. Drink up.

This wine needed 10 hours of Decanting before it woke up. Really really good. Like a restrained Amarone.

Originally purchased 3 bottles in 2007. The first bottle opened in 2009 was bad. The second bottle opened in 2010 was very good. The last bottle opened in 2020 was by far the best. Medium body that has mellowed with age, but still having decent fruit and a nice finish.

Absolutely delicious. Only issue was I broke the cork when trying to remove it. Full bodied, silken great nose. Can use with chicken, beef or pork dishes. Just a great blend

Absolutely loved this wine! Totally integrated and full of life and flavor. A wonderful blend with the Corvina paving the way on the road to delicious lip-smacking mature fruit. What a bargain at under $20!!

A blend of Corvina (40%), Corvinone (30%), Rondinella (25%) and Sangiovese (5%) One of three Italians drunk in relatively quick succession - the other two Mascarello's 2012 Barbera Scudetto, and Fossacolle's 2011 Brunello. Of these three the 95 Palazzo the best by a clear mile. Maturity helps, but more importantly a real feeling of typicity and sense of terroir and sensible alcohol of 13% compared to the 15% for this Fossacolle and 14.5 for the Scudetto. Will this is certainly …

You have to like very mature Italian wines to enjoy the wine at this late date. While we should have consumed it 5 or more years ago we still enjoyed it.

Due to it's age this was pop'n'poured, the cork could easily be extracted with a pulltap corkscrew,1/3 of it is soaked through, though, ruby red colour, smells of smoke and cigar box, light body, has more residual sugar than I personally like, in the mouth acidity and smoke, short finish with blackberry, I poured the last glass through a tea filter, there was quite a lot of deposit in the filter afterwards, a nice wine, but way too old

I must be the last person on earth to taste the 97 PDT. I found this in my mother's cellar. Bless her heart, she doesn't get that not all wines last forever. This doesn't have the stature of a young PDT, of which I've had several. However, it is surprisingly intact, speaking well of the juice that Allegrini puts into this most basic of their cuvees. Translucent dark red with only slight bricking. Nose with some initial weird funk that …

I have not had this wine in years, but used to enjoy it quite a bit. This bottle--not so much. Seems to be over-the-hill with a bit of oxidation obscuring the fruit and not much else. I am hoping that this is just a case of a wine that I should have opened 2-3 years earlier.

Dark ruby turning crimson at the rim with a nose of ripe dark berries, tobacco and espresso. The palate is rich, juicy with an excellent tannic grip. It's full-bodied with a velvety texture. Flavors of currant, ripe blackberry, mocha and cigar box form the core. Finishes long and juicy with notes of spice. Delicious and easy to drink. This is great with most Italian hearty dishes or on its own. Drink now until 2019.

A kicking mix of sour and dark cherries on the nose, along with some dusty earth, tobacco and roasted coffee. Firm tannins for structure, and the acid keeps it clean. The sour cherry and red currant fruit is tangy and delicious, backed up by roasted herbs, prune, violets and rich coffee. Rich and velvety, but the focus to this wine is impressive. It will have even more to show in two to four years. 70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella and 5% …
