Archstone Pinot Noir

Found this bottle hiding out in my cellar from a 2011 purchase at $10. While my expectations were not high, this wine performed very well. The color was still a dark plum purple but was no longer deep colored. The wine pours a very deep burgundy, especially for a Pinot Noir. The nose is abundant with Dark Cherries with hints of leather. The taste is of Dark Cherry and plums with a hint of spices and citrus peel. The finish is long, of full ripe fruit and earthy spices.

With some classic pinot aromas of clove, cinnamon, and cherry, the Archstone has a lot of structure for a wine at this price. It then has some silky flavors of black cherry, licorice and other red fruits that lead to a medium long finish. An outstanding value a $11.99 and tastes like a $25 bottle.
