Perfectly aged, fantastic vintage, very different expression of California Syrah that stands up to Northern Rhone. 97 Syrah, 3% Viognier, some whole clusters, aged mostly in neutral oak and 35% new large barrels, 14% abv. Fantastic balance, many layers. great aromatics: black olive, tomato leaf, grilled meat, black raspberry, cassis. Palate adds some iron / more bloody and smoked meats accents, spices and black pepper. Perfect acidity, fantastic length that goes on and on 😍😍🍷🍷🍇🍇

Took 30min to fully open. After first pour nose is discreet and driven by plum, green pepper and ground pepper notes. It then blossomed and exploded with flavors of blueberry, olive tapenade, licorice. Mouth still feels young but age played its magic. Everything is integrated. This has an old world feel. Red fruit and blue fruit flavors along with peppery and baking spice notes, leading to a medium + finish

Licorice bomb for sure. I also get roasted meat and dried herb. Paired well with roast pork stuffed with garlic and thyme. In fact, almost too well! Just a bit uneven which prevents me from giving it a higher score.

Wonderfully balanced blackberry and sage. Structured while fruit and savory spice forward. Wonderful bacon notes on the back. A picture perfect Syrah that has finally hit its stride. Probably has at least a decade of perfevtion....

Beautiful dark color with plum and berry on the nose with a nice touch of smoke. Decanted for a couple of hours. Plenty of fruit and nice finish. Speaking of finish Merri and I finished the bottle in one night. 😊

A big, juicy fruit bomb that Maria really enjoyed. Blackberry liquor, blueberry, licorice, and hints of smoke.

Garnet-black color. Concentrated but not syruppy, assertive flavors of black raspberry, coffee and a touch of eucalyptus, great body, balanced and structured. No sediment, and it drinks well at ten years of age without decanting, but clearly has a long future. Excellent.

A beautiful Syrah with all the characteristics of Jonata. Deep, bold, acidic with big tannins, characterized by a beautiful nose. Absolutely delicious and drinking in its prime!

Strong acidity, fairly well balanced, drinking well. Decanted for 30min through coffee filter with moderate fine sediment removed.

Dense purple-black. A floral top-note sits over a wall of dark fruit, creosote and boot polish. This delivered an intense, full-bodied mouthful of rich dark berries with a peppery tobacco-tinged finish. An outstanding syrah on par with a great Hermitage but with California characteristics (if that makes any sense). This continued to improve over a couple of hours as we polished off the bottle. Will give the next one a 3 hour decant for peak performance.

This is drinking beautifully. Excellent balance, with powerful fruit countered by a backbone of distinct tannin and moderate acidity. Noticeable notes of cigar box, a hint of leather, gobs of dark fruits, and perhaps a whiff of dried apricot. Decanted for 2 hours through a coffee filter, with mild to moderate sediment of mixed consistency removed.

This is without a doubt one of the best pure syrahs in the US. Hugely performed nose of black and blue fruit and cassis. Fruitier and more expressive than a Northern Rhône but nonetheless has that “it” quality that reminds you of top shelf Northern Rhône’s. Spicy but extremely well rounded, smooth and a long one minute + finish.

Really sexy stuff here. The wine is rich, full bodied, concentrated and lushly textured, with a fresh, sweet, ripe, peppery, black cherry and black raspberry presence. If this is this tasty at this young age, it is only going to get better with a few years of bottle aging. This Northern Rhone styled wine was made from a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier.

Served with marinated flank steak; opened bottle about 90 minutes before serving. Very smooth and polished effort for such a young wine.
