It was ok on its own. Would likely be better with food

Well balanced and fairly full bodied. Spicy pepper flavours with light fruit and grippy tannins.

cheers - I had heard decent reviews on this wine. I don't agree. Spice and bacon, but no finesse. There are just way too many better values at this price point and even better wines for half this price.

Nice value, soft tannins and short but well balanced finish. Red and white pepper and left bank Bordeaux style fruit on a well crafted varietal for the price.

maybe 87 - is it cooking or a terrible wine as the latest notes state? No way, and think those comments are a little harsh. Give this 30+ mins decant - and comes off full bodied with tons of fruit (a little much, yes) but round with the needed "zing" of acid/tannin to give it some backbone. Dark berry fruit with mocha qualities...at this point is a good BBQ wine and served a hair cool - decent summer vino - …

Meaty, peppery, red fruit nose. Sweet, jammy, vanilla and black fruit flavors that turn sweeter and jammier with air. Not for me.

cheers - lots of flavor, smoky, but not any finesse. Enjoyed it, but won't be buying a case of this wine.

Used this to saute mushrooms & then drank the rest of the bottle around the fire pit several hours later at the end of the night. It has pleasant smoky notes that matched the fire but overall this runs a little hot and it's too sweet, thin, and sharp for my preference.

Deep black-purple in color, smoky black fruit and heat on the nose, with explosive palate of extracted fruit. Flavors are in the raspberry preserves arena, with a background of black cassis and blackberry pie, loads of smoke and a touch of cigarbox, balanced by round tannins. One of the best of LC's recent Malbec vintages.

Since the very first time we try this wine we loved it. If we see it on sale we would get it! The wine looks Violet colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Grapefruit, Forest floor, Light toast, Smokey Bacon, Oak, and Pine. It tastes like Blackberry, Strawberry Jam, Raisin, and Cherry. The body is Medium. The wine has Round texture. The wine finishes Medium.

Decent fruit and a bit of smoke. One of the better Layer Cake bottles I've had in a bit.

Very rich and smoky. It should go wonderfully with a steak cooked black and blue.

Popped and poured. Inky purple in the glass. In the mouth, a fruit-forward medley of blackberry, blueberry, plum and cocoa with subtle cherry and wet earth notes. Lengthy finish with silky tannins and plenty of heat. Excellent QPR and better than many other Malbecs at three times the price. Too bad it it comes with a screw cap. Would certainly improve with a few years in a cork-stoppered bottle.

OK, wine. Took some time to open up. Tasted at Corkscrew as part of a Layer Cake flight tasting. Also had 2010 Shiraz and 2008 Primitivo/Zinfandel. The Malbec as ok, better with food. Close to a Cab Sauv.
