Medium yellow; intersting and complex 'sponti' nose; lots of punchy fruit and skin tang content showing via citrus, pyrazine minerality, and diesel; not at its best (would have been better either earlier or later, I believe.) Totally dug this wine tonight. Not until I was trying to decipher the label for my notes did I realize this is a spatlese. The wine store guy thought it half trocken in dryness but full of flavors. Its somewhere between 1/2 trocken and kabinett for my palate. However 11% alc is usually more trocken territory. Either way this is not the more commonly sweet spatlese. Must be the vintage? This wine has all the depth the store guy extolled. …
