Super Bowl LVIII 2024 (Alpharetta, GA) : Cellar Diving: Full disclosure... palate fatigue was in full effect at this point in the night. I enjoyed this more than the two Red Burgs that came just before it. Still young and could benefit from more time in the cellar.

medium deep young red color, still some reduction, roasted coffee on the nose with plum and cherry, on the palate still very young and evolving at a glacial pace, tannins still evident and overall shut down, this is in a better place but still a bit of a question mark long term, it will be a long wait in any event. (***)+?, 2030+

Atlanta Amoureuses & Monty Dinner : Good, but not great. Drouhin was clearly 4/4 on the producers today.

This took a good 90 mins to come around. Double-decanted for 60 mins and then poured while having an amazing Porcini risotto. Half-way through the dinner it just hit an amazing spot of perfect balance and being open and having great balance/tension. This is a good 91 points and does take some time to open but when it does open - wow! it is in a great place now. Patience and it seems it will go for 5+ more years.

Épaulé 1 heure et consommé sur 2 heures. Couleur rubis assez foncée et luisante. Léger nez de framboises. En bouche, l'attaque se poursuit sur les petits fruits rouges (framboises). La finale est plutôt amère, poussièreuse et sèche avec des tannins encore présents. Un des rare 2012 ouvert récemment. Je vais attendre les autres. 88-89 pts

PNP. Il y a encore beaucoup d'arômes primaires, sur les fruits foncés, mais la texture est très belle, tannique mais sans astringence. Plus de complexité qu'escompté de ma part à ce stade-ci pour le millésime (les 2012 mes semblent souvent fermés ces temps-ci). Très bon.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA) : See through dull red, lighter rim; vanilla, smoky, vanilla and strawberry, light cherry, fesh and bright, good mid-palate density, very young and sappy almost to a fault as it hurts drinkability, time should help this; called '11 Clos des Mouches.

Vindredi (Barcode (Bellevue, WA)) : Tasted blind. Serious funk and oak. Expensive oak. Luscious, rich, and full, with a nice density and great purity of fruit -- yet it still manages to come across as light and pretty. Finishes with fine tannins and a little astringency.

France 2013 - Côte d'Or; 4/24/2013-4/26/2013 (Beaune) : Tasted at the Domaine. From barrel. Delicate nose of red cherries and wood spices. Fine tannins and great acidity give rise to the raspberry flavours. There’s nice tension here and while it’s a bigger wine it still shows excellent elegance, but doesn’t have the finesse of the de Vogue Amoureuses. (92-95).
