Beguiling nose, just wonderful. I fear I opened it too early, as it’s a bit tannic and tart. My first experiences with PAX go back to the mid 2000’s and those wines were HUGE and thick. This is a different style of Syrah, more akin to southern Rhône. Not bad, but at this stage not 90+ IMHO.

Great, fresh Syrah that feels like it cones from a cool climate. Missing some of the savory, bacon notes that I love with northern rhone producers but still a delicious wine.

Thrilling! Finally I found a Cali Syrah producer that makes it (in my opinion) properly. A fragrant nose on opening and even moreso after a double decant to eliminate the sediment. There are red and darker fruits on the palate, and menthol, grilled meats and slight bandaids on the aftertaste. The 12.5% alcohol is barely noticeable, and this feels so much more balanced than anything from the Alban or SQN aligned producers. I’m now a big fan of Pax.

Tasted over two hours. PnP Lively, aromatic. Hews towards savory but fruit through the body. Medium finish

Open for a couple hours, nose is deep and savory, olive brine and red berries and lifted floral notes. Totally electric; doesn’t smell rich or heavy at all. Palate is equally alive, great tension, medium body, plums and blackberries, crushed granite and black olives. This is killer stuff for the price. Pax is a Syrah savant.

Young and reds a lot of decanting and unfortunately not a luxury we had . Better still age this more. Cool climate feel , big fruit but also well mannered and not a rich as the usual type so common with its keen. Good wine for sure just a bit young for now and one dimensional. 90 but with potential and good to see the old world more restrained side int he winemaking.

Tasty red berry and olive on the nose and savory palate with whole cluster notes and delicious tannins and acidity on the moderate finish.

Day 1: Very similar in style to the Result of a Crush Syrah wines which are a bit cheaper but not by much. Green olives, sour cherry, spice, white pepper, underbrush, minerals and floral notes. Medium plus finish and quite nice overall. For sure a buy at this price. 92 points (Synthetic Cork) Day 2: While it has some of the same characteristics of day 1 on day 2 gets a little more intense featuring dark berries, smoke, black pepper, …
