Quite open nose with some musty notes, yellow fruit, herbs and some nice floral scent. Leaner than the other wines in this flight. Very elegant, good pressure, fine crushed stones, herbs and spices. Wonderful length. Makes fun now, but good potential. …

Vin de Saint-Valentin, ma blonde voulait du vin blanc avec les sushis! Couleur dorée, avec une belle robe, une certaine viscosité. Au nez, on est sur les fleurs, la craie, avec un côté vineux. En bouche, c'est ample, complexe, sophistiqué, sur les fleurs, la lavande, la craie, avec un touche d'oxydation en finale qui est très séduisante. Ma blonde était comblée.

Developed golden yellow color. Waxy and seductive aromas with smoke, vanilla and exotic fruits, and which reminded more of a Chenin Blanc than a Riesling. Opulent and smooth on the palate. A bit short, maybe.

Deep yellow in colour. Very appealing on the nose with a distinct orange and candied fruit, tutti frutti. Very developed. Beautiful acid. Long aftertaste. Probably at its peak. Drank really well with traditional ribbe

All dry Koehler-Ruprechts (Dado Restaurant Düsseldorf) : Drinking all Auslese trocken R and RR, some Sptätlese trocken und Kabinett trocken from Koehler-Ruprecht. It was an amazing evening. Very special wines. For many the best dry German Rieslings. I rated this time generally lower than most of the other 12 participants. For some wines just ratings or short DN. some nuts in the finish

Aromatic, with minerals, apricot, spices and botrytis on the nose. Big, fruity and structured, but with an with oily texture. The wine stands the 13.5 % alcohol without any problems. Good concentration.

Really mellow and warm fruit flavours, slight KR herbal touch, a bit short, slightly bitter'ish to the end, seen its best days

Once again some KR Rieslings. Last week I had the 2001 and 1999. This time it had to be the 1998. The nose had plenty of white peach, mango, flint stone and nicely balanced smoke. The taste had a rather exotic and by not as austere style like the 2001 nor the 1999. I got loads of fruits like mango and dark red berries. Some hours later I tended to sense some aromas of pink grapefruit. But not mawkish or …

I got aged lemons, vanilla-mandarin fragrances, some smoke and hints of the “beloved” detergent (which vanished after a while) I previously mentioned. The taste got some austerity as well. This time by far more balanced. I got some flinty bitterness, some smoke and hard earthy mineral character. The fruitful character appeared to be far better adjusted. In the centre I fetched beautiful creamy lemon flavours and hints of the vanilla-flowery-mandarin impressions. Very nice, complex, but challenging piece of Riesling!

Wie üblich ein stark polarisierender Wein von K-R; Nase sehr mineralisch und vegetabil geprägt, wenig Aprikosen- und Orangennoten; am Gaumen fast wie ein weißer Burgunder mit dezenter Säure, sehr mineralisch, fast salzig, langem Abgang, frischer Eleganz.
