Even though this is not my favorite style of Pinot, we have to give them credit for making a thoughtful and tasty wine. As a loyal taster, for over 20 years, of every Pinot that is not nailed down, I am learning to describe what I am tasting in the glass. Though quite tasty, this one reminds me of those Pinot's that have a little too much sun exposure. The flavors are baked, or maybe roasted, and on the raisony …

Cloudy brick red color. Burnt tuna and a hint of dark chocolate on the nose. Tuna and sour cherry on the palate and finish. After a couple days in the decanter there was much more fruit on the nose and the more earthy/gamey flavors were mostly gone. Blackberry jam on the nose and continuing on the palate along with minerality/metallic flavor. This wine should age pretty well for a few more years.

This wine is a shade or two lighter than ruby with considerable lightening at the edge. There are cherries, raspberry, baking spices, earthy elements and some fresh flowers on the very light and alluring nose. This is light to medium body with silky tannins and very nice acidity. On the palate the wine has nice, juicy red fruits and spice with a streak of earthiness in the background. The finish is a touch short, but all in all this is …

Ok. A little cherry and earth. Not much spice. A little tart, which was a slight turn off.

I was underwelmed - slightly hot, fruit minimal, more earth character, but out of balance

Excellent choice with Thanksgiving Dinner. Paired perfectly with everything.

Sweet fruited but perfumed with red berry, turned soil, cola and clove aromas. Light to medium bodied, tart and somewhat simplistic on the palate, but still very pleasant with red cherry, strawberry, forest floor and grape stem flavors. Good effort for the price.

Rockin! Reminds me of the De Loach RRV from 05. Animal on the nose like cured meats. Dried herbs going on, too, like turkey seasoning--very recommended for thanksgiving or bacon-mushroom anything. NOT an overripe attempt to hide flaws, the fruit is approachable. Dusty tannins.

much more interest here than the first time that i tasted this vintage a year and a half ago. very much the substance of brandborg 07 benchlands pinot from umpqua valley. very meaty cherry fruit on the nose with a very caressing expression of oak on the nose. palate is a little more playful and this wine is really in a sweet spot right now. soft textured, lush pinot fruit on the palate. quite delicious right now.

The aroma is the most interesting aspect of this wine - it's got this really unusual funky cherry thing going that I really like, even with the hint of rubber tire that's in there. The palate shows attractive new world flavors of cherry and spice - though they could just as easily be coming from syrah as pinot noir. Lingering finish goes over to the sweet side. Pleasant enough, even if it's not what I am looking for in a …

Brief notes from a retailer tasting: Translucent dark garnet with a hint of tawny. Medium bodied with some spices and cherry fruit. No mistaking this as anything but Pinot. Not bad.

Very gamey, and a little tobacco and earth. Not much fruit at all. Very surprising old world style wine from Australia. It's still drinking pretty well 4 days after being opened. I think it could do ok in a decanter.

Simple nose of cherries with a touch of earth. More black cherry and black fruits than red. Decent acidity and structure. Okay finish. Very New World. Okay with the Orange-Bourbon Salmon.

Couldn't have planned better...Wonderfully suited for those thanksgiving leftovers reheated for lunch. Very light in body, with soft strawberry, a touch of hay-tinged earthiness and the lightest of spice character. Was out of cranberry sauce, but this stood in wonderfully after a bite of leftover turkey and stuffing.

pale ruby red in color, with an intriguing nose of funk, barnyard, raspberry & sour cherry. High, rough acidity made this a bit unpleasant to drink on it's own, will try again with food. for $12 i found this to be a good example of what an aussie pinot from victoria is like.

Maybe I like this just because my expectations were so low. Australian Pinot Noir. Cutesy bottle. Thankfully, no pictures of animals and a relatively modest 13.5% alcohol. It shows earthy cherry aromas with a hint of menthol. At the beginning it has subdued cherry and mushroom flavors. The finish goes into a cherry vanilla territory I don't care for, but it doesn't go over the top. Credible effort, decent value, let's hope Australia starts making more wine like this.

Pinot Planet (Murphy's) : Cherry cola, spice, vanilla. Add some caramel on the palate. I thought it tasted like a $20 Cali pinot, and I guess you can get it for 3 or 4 dollars cheaper. Still, like most all $20 Cali pinots, leaves me disappointed. 85-86ish.

Nose of red fruits. Taste like cranberries with pomegrante and cherries. Finishes with notes of vanilla.

This is really a surprisingly lovely qpr ($15 retail). It's bright and lively, lots of earth, fresh rosemary, some tar, ripe red cherry, black plum, beets, minerality, good acid, and nice balance. There is some oak but it's not out of place and there is no sign of cola or chocolate (yay). It's a shade hot on the finish and thin in the mid-palate but it's a decent enough bargin pinot. A: Ruby gem like in color. Clear and glassy. N: Waifs of young cherries and peach. Air opens this wine way up. Smokey and makes me want to sneeze. T: Pleasant, light fruity. Little punch and tart. Weak. F: None Overall: Disappointed...nice label though
