Jacquesson, Cuvee 741

Beautiful and rich pinot based champagne. Good toastiness and balanced acidity (on the higher end for aged BdN). From magnum and still very fresh. Apple and lees notes. Very classic BdN and great wine. Slight knock since it’s less concentrated than some other years, but in a great drinking window and delicious.

2004 vintage

Nice development with Apple and brioche. A little hazelnut and bone dry. In a good place. 750s may have a few more years of improvement but not many.

Currently showing great : sharp with green apple, very fine bubble, good length. Even better on the next day, and the day after that. En pleine forme : tranchant sur la pomme verte, bulle très fine, bonne longueur. Meilleur le lendemain et le surlendemain.

Middle weight, off dry, bitter citrus and stone. Excellent.

Toasted nuts and apple aromas with a lovely long finish. Became rounder in the glass with more of a creme br�l�e finish after aerating for 30+ minutes. Lovely Champagne!

This bottle has developed quite a bit over the last two years. It is decidedly more open, seemingly maturing rather quickly, possibly too quickly. The texture is much more noticeable, nice satiny, creamy feel. There is a prominent apple skin/cider note which with the way it comes across feels a bit natty/microbial, possibly some phenolics. I'm exploring champagnes from lesser-known houses, and this one truly stood out from the crowd. Very well-balanced, showing plenty of white fruit, honey, and macadamia, with a touch of toasted bread. Long, persistent finish with vibrant acidity. Beautiful interplay between Chardonnay and Pinot. Excellent value here. Still young � I believe it has at least another 6�8 years before reaching its peak.

Deep amber gold. Disappointingly more mature and less energetic than a bottle opened exactly one year ago, though still quite drinkable.

Still young and fresh but starting to gain some complexity now. No detailed notes tonight, but it was very much appreciated by the crowd.

Drank from magnum. 8th tasting. Medium nose intensity with notes of mineral, lemon and grapefruit. High acidity.

Tertiary aromas - mushrooms, leather, a bit sherry style. Great staff!

2002 vintage

Color is a pale gold. Slow stream of very fine bubbles. The nose is beautifully aged, with toasted caramel, baked apples, like a deliciously sweet and balanced caramel apple. Still a cool minerality in the background. The palate is high acidity, perhaps almost too biting, with the same caramel apple notes coming across, a tart lemon on the finish. Would be fantastic with food. I think this will easily go another 10 years.

2002 vintage

1st bottle from a 6 pack, based on 2017 vintage, DG 01/2022. 66% Pinot Noir (from Ay, Dizy and Hautvillers) and 34% Chardonnay (from Avize and Oiry). Tiny bubbles with a fine bead, gorgeous citrus and salty notes, some green apple and ginger. Aromas and flavors also include warm bread crust, with nice tension due to the Extra Brut dosage of 0.75 g/L. The finish lasts forever, and is both serious and complex. Drink this beauty through 2032+.

Wanted to like this but it wasn�t as good as the roederer 244 and paled in comparison. Fell a little flat on the palate that I couldn�t get past. Still a decent champagne and interested in trying the tardif rendition.

Home-drinking, Luxembourg. Upon opening the general oxidative note dominates. It recedes later with more air where much more nuance is discernible including white flowers and a toasted charachter. There is ample palate weight and it is very sapid. It is on the austere side with a pronounced quinine note into the finish. Not surprising for a zero dosage that avoids the more damning pitfall of hollow mid-palate. In my opinion this is not an aperitif Champagne and will show best …

Superbe vin aérien et crémeux, d'une grande finesse et racé. Wouah, tout ce qu'on peut attendre d'un grand champagne !

Pale straw color with fine, persistent effervescence. Aromas of lemon zest, green apple, chalk, and light brioche. The palate is dry and linear, showing citrus rind, underripe orchard fruit, and crushed rock. The finish is exceptionally long, with lingering notes of citrus pith, toasted pastry, mineral, and a faint savory element. Lovely with oysters on the half shell or Brie.

Lovely aged bubbles with a good nutty depth and red apples. Plenty of things to enjoy and overall, just a lovely wine.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The Cuvée 745 pours a golden color with a persistent mousse. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of yellow apple, raspberry, lemon curd, marzipan, hazelnut, pistachio, brioche, and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long with chalky minerals and lovely, creamy texture. Impressive stuff with a 2017 base vintage. Drink now through 2037.

This is an interesting Champagne. While the brisk acidity and pleasant petillance make it fun to drink, there were no overt dominant fruit or other aromas. While a bit puzzling, it was a pleasure to consume but not very complex overall.

Minerally with flavours of orchard apples coated in butter. Fully mature but not in the least oxidised, it had deliciously savoury entry with some pleasing sweetness on the mid-palate and finish despite residual sugar of 1.5 gpl. Elegant and persistent perlage, gold yellow. Fruits, toasted notes, butter and minerality at the nose. In the mouth is rich with dried fruit, little patisserie in a solid and elegant atmosphere. Very balanced.

Much more like it - a great wine. Based on a 2008 base, this is still too young. Lightly yellow possessing a lovely mousse, a seductive nose consisting of apple, mandarine peel, nougat and some flowers. A great body that fizzes through the mouth with excellent power and texture. Still a fair way to go. A mineral and sophisticated finish, very elegant. Drink now to 10+ years.

Bought 5 bottles of this lovely Champagne ~10 yrs ago, and have consumed them gradually over that time. I last had this wine about 3 yrs ago. I've been on "dry January" since 12/26, so this was a real treat. This is my final bottle, and is a 2009 base year w/30% reserve wines, DG 01/2014, dosage 3.5 g/L. 43% Chard, 27% PN, 30% PM. Holds up very well. Exudes steely minerality. Also lemon, pear, hazelnut, sourdough and apple notes on the nose. Concentrated and linear on the palate. Great freshness and depth. Long ending.

A broad mineral base with an alluring nutty complexity interlaxed with notes of wax. The fruit profile consistss of pear and dried apricot. The palate is ecompassed in a nice hazelnut frame. There is good tension and the acidity is fresh. A touch of cream provides for a sumptuous texture. This was pleasant and highly palarable. It‘s been 2 years since the last bottle and I felt this has come a considerable way in balancing the scale.

This has put on weight since my last bottle. Lovely fruit well balanced with solid acidity. In a great place right now for me and I will drink my last bottle in the next 12 months.

Thanksgiving 2024

Light yellow, moderately frothy. Light, ripe lemon, terrific acidity, and a rush of soil at the end. Excellent. This has turned out really well.

Popped and poured. Tightly wound, zesty and fresh. Refreshing citrus and toasty flavours with a note of hay. Decent finish but clearly very young and I�d have liked to try this with a few more years.

Final bottle from a half case purchased in 2014. A blend of 61% Chardonnay, 18% Pinot Noir and 21% Pinot Meunier, 100% cuvée, vinified on the lees in casks, base vintage 2010, 33% reserve wines, disgorged May 2014 with a dosage of 2.5 gr/l. A little sweet, perhaps a bit oxidized. But still good stuff. Drank with sushi and interestingly it paired incredibly well with the fresh ginger.

Deeply reductive all smoky flinty verging on leathery. Intruiging and would have liked to contemplate it more.

Dgt 04/2021 Floral nose and white peach. Mouth with a lovely creamy touch. Beautiful menthol notes that mingle with jasmine, grapefruit and white peach. The bubble note fades very quickly to give way to a juice of beautiful quality, which the acidity stretches nicely. Beautiful finely spicy finish on a good saline length. Very good champagne, the extra freshness compared to the “base” cuvée is really worth highlighting.

Brought by K & S as an opener. Improved with air. Green apple, brioche and almonds. Lovely by the last glass!

Le Tour de Champagne-Perswijn-10-07-2024: It was difficult to judge this wine (or this bottle); probably 'dégorgé too recently. The wine was not really balanced and I noticed a yeasty impression. I hope I can retaste this wine in future; no points at the moment.

Paired with Hokkaido A5 Wagyu Nigiri Straw color, very light bubbles almost none after 30min. Nose of bruised apple and brioche. On the palate it's very lovely and forward, green apple, lime, almonds, brioche. Great with the Wagyu, would've wanted a bit more mousse.

This is in a great place to drink now, offering a balance between the strawberry scone like fruity, baked good side of the wine and a pleasantly-oxidative finish. There's a little bit of hazelnut which adds to the nose, but it misses a little of the complexity and a little of the depth one might hope for from a great vintage of this age.
