From a magnum purchased at release. Might be a couple years past its peak but still quite enjoyable. Deep gold center with clear rim. Started with over ripe fruit but with air it opened up, revealing lemon curd, almond, minerality, with hits of toasted sourdough. Longish finish, still some acidity giving this bottle some life. Enjoyable in larger format but drink-up.

eveolved color, on the nose the wine is quite rich with hints of lemon and pear but in the mouth the acidity was not nicely balanced even tough the finish was quite long. This was not as good as the previous bottle 2 years ago bit still a decent effort for a 20 year old white Burgundy

True to form, this bottle was different from the others I have tasted (please see my prior notes).The nose had a overripe, dried fruit quality that declined over time but never went away. From the same batch purchased upon release, this wine had a yellow center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose featured apple, citrus, and some oak. In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied with crisp acidity and good length. While not particularly complex, it did not show any of the super-ripe tropical fruit flavors. From a pristine bottle purchased on release, this wine had a deep yellow/gold center and clear rims. It was a bit darker than I was expecting for a wine of this vintage. The medium intensity nose showed lemon, white stone, as well as some traces of mango and butterscotch. The wine was more impressive in the mouth (than the nose) with a firm palate and an excellent citric finish. It needed 3 + hours of decanting to show its best. …

From a perfect looking bottle purchased on release, this wine had a gold center and light yellow rims. It was a bit darker than a wine of this vintage should be. It was overripe smelling at first and these factors had me concerned about premox. AA Wine Tasting Great Wine Made Simple (San Francisco, CA) : Definitely oxidized, but still drinkable. The wine still shows character underneath the oxidation, which added a sherry nose and a tart lemony palate. There was a bit of honey and other flavors that may have been from the original wine. Better than the last bottle.

Deep rich gold, but not alarmingly so. But, on nose and palate, gingery, flat and upappetising. I've not had one of these for a few years, but my memory is that the last few bottles have all been disappointing in this way - the fault seems more systematic than random premature oxidation.

TTG#8: Old Barolo and Young Bordeaux (Shunju in Tokyo) : Deeper gold. A bit of brown apple on the nose. With another whiff the nose just seems flattish. Drinkable and not awful, but clearly oxidized. Again, drinkable, but why bother when there’s other wine on the table. What a shame!
