On Sunday, I had the sheer pleasure of imbibing this massive Vi de Vila de Priorat f the local coopertive Vinícola del Priorat. ’La Vilella Alta’ (v17, whopping 16% ABV, Garnatxa negra & Samsó, unfiltered, bottle no 358/370), a veritable mammoth & arguably not your average after pool-drink! Dark, dense, inky-red in the glass. Super-expressive nose displaying ripe strawberries, brambles, cassis, balsamic herbs, a splash of pepper & baking spice. Unbelievable viscosity, juicy w firm, drying tannins, long, warm close!
