This was practically a free bottle (I bought it and its sister as part of a small collection for $9/btl) so I this BV was surprisingly substantial for a Carneros Pinot. I frankly prefer thicker more complex wines from Oregon and occasionally even (dare I admit it) New York State. Just found this bottle in the cellar, don't know why it wasn't entered. Needed to blow off for 30 or so. Opened to a muted cherry with some earth and alc on the nose. silky entry, with good acidity and smooth tannins. More cherry on the palate, little hot on the finish (more noticeable as it warmed to room temp), but still very enjoyable. It is drinking well now, I can't imagine it would get any better. 89+

Deep garnet color with a ruby tinged edge. Bright, sweet red berry nose. Sweet cherries, red raspberries and light strawberries with a layering of darker red fruit, like black cherry. The fruit is dominant initially and integrates nicely over 2-3 hours with the earth and tannins showing more over time. This reveals a definite Napa soil of dust showing earth and barnyard. Tannins are moderate giving the mid-palate a drying effect. Nice, medium finish.

Maybe its the bottle or maybe the wine is in a bit of a funk. Color and nose seemed fine, and on opening, it was a bit hot and slightly harsh, but you could not help but detect a lot of very nice fruit. It quickly went down hill and was undrinkable 60 minutes after the bottle was opened.

No hint of oxidization, even the color was brilliant. Still had plenty of red fruit and a blast of acidity. Terrific at dinner and was just as nice, maybe even better, the next day. 12.5% abv

Very nice but subdued pinot nose. Color is much darker and more purple than your average pinot noir. Well integrated, good fruit, modest tannins. A bigger wine than most american pinot noirs. Long finish with very good fruit and still a bit too much tannin. This is going to be great in 2010.

Napa-Noma, June 2006: Sweet cranberry and boysenberry nose. Touch new oak. Sweet smelling. Sweet red fruit palate. Pleasant.
