A beautiful Petite Sirah from an iconic PS and Zinfandel maker. Still explosive on the nose after 22 years, settles down on the palate in a balanced medley of dark chocolate, red fruits, white peppercorn and earthy funk. Intense and memorable! This is the finest mature Turley PS that I have drunk. Mercaptans , leather, game, spiced blackberry fruit, and chocolate. Very tertiary, but alive and vibrant. This must be the nicest 2000 that I have had from Napa. Superb concentration, exquisite balance. Feels ata eat of maturity. Awesome complexity. Highish alcohol, but feels in equilibrium.

Dark, dark purple color. Black fruits on the nose. Raspberry, blackberry, plum and roasted meat on the palate. Cedar pencil, leather, tobacco are also present. Tannins are still present in a healthy measure. Many years lie ahead, but since it's drinking beautifully now, why wait?

Petite Sirahs on a Satruday Afternoon (ICASI) : I was quite surprised that this outperformed the 2001 IMO. Purple in color. The nose has black raspberries, slight bramble and slight earthiness. On the palate, nice complex layering. Juicy black raspberries. Nice finish. Seems to be at peak but probably will be there for another 10 years. Good finish.

Fantastic. Short decant leads to decadent layers of tiramisu and overipe berry. Drink up.

(Father's Day tri-tip extravaganza with H, M and The Kens.) Drinking beautifully right now with the tannins almost completely resolved, although throwing off a lot of fine-grained sediment. Plum hued with a fine robe showing some browning around the rim. Woodsy, cedary notes surrounding plum and blackberry in the bouquet that continue onto the palate. Forest and mossy notes make up the finish. Not terribly complex; but very balanced and able to hold its own alongside tonight's grilled beef, even …

Oh this is very nice right now. Bordering on almost too extracted for my tastes, but on the good side of that line for me. Really vibrant cherry fruit, but with a slight hint of earth and leather underlying it. Still some nice tannins -- I think this may easily last another 5 years or more. Nose of bright cherries, with hints of violets. Very smooth palate, again with the cherries, but supported with some nice earth tones, and with …

On opening, nice cherry fruit on the nose and cherry, cedar, spice and earth on the palate. Over time, fruit faded quickly with earth and minerals expanding. Disappointed, as I like petite syrah with some bottle age. A little rough for my palate.

Everything about this bottle of wine was exciting. Maybe just approaching its peak, this is a terrific mix of fruit, minerality, and perhaps LUST!

When I asked Larry Turley years ago "when will the Turley Petites be ready to drink he responded - Never". He was wrong on this one it's actually ready to drink after 12 years of ageing So good it seems to be nearing it's peak but should drink well for at least another 7-10 years. A very nice petite

Was expecting a bit more from this. Fruit was still vibrant, but didn't have the typical varietal characteristics. Was very difficult to even tell what varietal this was. Interesting wine, but not great.

A monster. Beautiful nose of blackberries and other black fruits. Lush on the palate, somewhat lacking on the finish though. Not sure if this needs more time or if it has plateaud. Good wine nonetheless.

Decanted 3 hours and matched with grilled "brick" chicken with homemade bbq sauce. I didn't quite know what to expect drinking this one as an infant. Beautifully balanced, with floral aromatics. There are blueberries / blackberries, and a finish that keeps going on and on. No need to be in a hurry with this one, however . . .
