Brogsitter, Spatburgunder Edition B, Ahr

Like the Frühburgunder Edition B 2014 tasted recently, this needs considerable time in the decanter to open up and give of its best. When it does, it is a light but lovely wine, with sweet and ripe black fruit on the nose and a lovely slate Ahr typicity, fresh and silky, mineral palate, nice flavour intensity, cool finish, good length. The oak needs a little more time to integrate - it dominates on the finish at present. Good value.

Light but ripe, juicy and supple, spiced strawberries, flowers and a hint of slate, sweet fruit and ripe but fresh acidity, gentle phenolics, clean flavours, good length. Charming, typical and good value - even better on the second day. Almost 88 points. Drink now - 2020.
