Deep Ruby color. Medium aroma intensity. Aromas of black plum, blackberry, pencil lead, cedar, smoke, leather. The wine is developing. The wine is dry, with medium acid, medium (+) tannins and medium alcohol. Body is medium (+). Flavor intensity is medium (+), and the flavors are consistent with the aromas. Finish length is medium. This is a very good wine. Can drink now, but still has potential to benefit from further aging.

Based on my last tasting I gave this a full two hour decant. The bouquet remains soft and round, with prominent red fruits, ripe black and red raspberry, sage, cocoa powder, and wet rocks. Very light-medium bodied, with red cherries, graphite, sage, and silky, polished tannins. Balanced and harmonious. I like the 2016 better, but this is just fine. Paired with a beef stroganoff this evening and it worked great.

Lush purple in color with a classic nose of Bordeaux. Straight out of the bottle, flat fruit notes of sour blueberry, crushed stone, cigar smoke. The tannins are smooth, and no rough edges. Decanted for 3+ hours, and the fruit did pop a little bit more, and also showed a dusting of bittersweet cocoa, but mid palate, the wine flatlined to a medium and un-memorable finish. By the 4th hour of decanting, now getting secondary notes of graphite/pencil shavings. However, …

Light, balanced easy drinker. Well made, but not complex nor a good value proposition for the $65 I paid at Costco. Haven’t had Cos so no comment on whether this provides a “glimpse” of the main wine, but I wouldn’t buy this again. Other seconds like clos du marquis are much more profound. Day 2 and this is much better. May have not been tasting super well yesterday after sitting by a fire for a few hours. Great winemaking and …

Needed about an hour in the glass before it started to open up. The bouquet is soft and round, with notes of red cherry, black raspberry, and hints of sage and cocoa powder. Very tasty red cherries on the palate, with a nice finish that carries primarily silky red fruits and smooth, polished tannins. I see lots of critique in the Cellar Tracker comments that rate this wine lower than other vintages. Probably fair, but don't let that stop you …

2015 vintage. Tasted at local wine shop with Adrianne (Ambassador with Cos d'Estournel). 2nd label for them, and it was decent. The minaret-like roofline is from the trips the original owner took in Asia (India, etc...).

Mild fruit bouquet noted. Muted fruit on palate. Does not get more interesting after opening. An easy pour and drink. I would not buy this wine on a wine list at a restaurant. The 2016 is sooo much better.

Young, poised, powerful, elegant. Like the young son of an 18th century French noble, who swaggers around town like he owns it, because his dad does, but who writes poetry in the evenings, because he's in touch with his feminine side.

Hmm….wine was excellent when opened. bright fruited with good balance and finish. Lovely to drink. I did leave half a bottle overnight jn the fridge to have the next day - unfortunately it was showing worse than when opened. Losing a lot of its fruit but not replaced by softer secondary flavours - indeed it was a touch unbalanced. Score is really an average of 93 (when opened) and 87 (day later). Drink up as i think it is at …

This is definitely evolving and improving since we had this last about a year ago ( Papies 90) . More interestingly we had it side by side with the 2015 Dame de Montrose ( Papies 91) and this was more generous, younger, richer and almost with a lot more to offer. Young for sure but with a lot of promise and depth. So much more than a second wine. 92

Drank over the course of 2 nights. First night needed only an hour or less to open up and showed some wonderful, albeit not strong or concentrated typical St. Estephe notes. Night 2, however, it had fallen apart. I'd advise drinking this in one evening, so save it for a friend or two. I'd say the QPR is tough on this one to recommend purchasing, but it is a nice wine at the end of the day if you happen …

Young and sharp, good fruit, still very much on the primary fruit , darker side to it too and very little feel of oak. Touch dry on the fruit and we expected this to be juicier given its a 2015 . Still Avery well made wine and a solid 90 for now.

Same notes as before, but the wine was a bit better. Maybe a bit more depth, not as thin tasting. But still some fruit … cassis, and berries. Acidity waning a bit so the fruit comes across as a touch flatter/fatter.

Good colour, some sediment. Shy on the nose but still get some red berry fruits, cassis, earthiness, and smooth silky tannins . Nothing is overt, everything in balance. I just wish there was more body to the mid palate to finish …. seems a bit thinner now. But still smooth and easy going.

In a perfect drinking window at 21. What an excellent claret with nose of cherries, plums, horse barn leather with the poop. Great palate of sharp Brett laiden with cherries, plum and earthen mushroom. A lot of its funk blew off in an hour. Evolved into a real shower with delicious brine, tart soft tannins, musty cherry funk. $50 high value. The best thing about this wine is its 12.5% abv. Excellent bottle. Well stored. Perfect cork. Decanted off sediment of which there wasn't much. Huge odor of cow and horse dung in straw laiden barn floor. Loved it, but that funk blew off in 2 hours. This bottle was a beautiful evolution of palate seduction. It went through stages of cherries to plums, through tobacco box to honey coated cigar to dirt of mushroom to savory truffle. It paired very well with pan seared Australian lamb t-bone. The lamb fat …

Have not found purchase details, but bought a case at least a dozen years ago--likely under 30/b from a Chicago source (probably Binny's). Decanted and found normal sediment. Color very good. Fragrant, mature red fruit, held up well over dinner; very good mouthfeel, given its age. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a …
