Twenty years in, this Husic is still going strong. Needed a bit of air to clear away the cobwebs, then started to shine. Deep inky purple. Muted nose of blackberries, graphite and dust. Soft tannins. Lots of black fruit, jammy, mineral. Nice long finish with a hint of sweetness. This was a mag, we’ve got one more 750 of the vintage, curious to see how it has fared. INKY black in color, lush, mouth, feel and smells of typical California dark fruit. Stewed plums, licorice, and dusty chocolate. Velvety smooth tannins.

Feels a bit tired for a 2012, honestly. Nice fruit, spice, cocoa, but sort of lays there. Nothing compelling really.

Nose- lots of dark berries, licorice, earth, smoke & currants. Palate- dark berries, noticeable spice with currants, licorice, earth medium acidity with velvety tannins in an elegant body. This is a beautiful cab that probably has at least a few more years in the tank. This is definitely a wine to seek out for your cellar.

2005 vintage

Deep ruby/garnet - looks younger than it’s 20 year age. Black fruit on nose - blackberries, wild blueberries - tarmac, saddle leather and a hint of violets. Powerful and voluptuous in mouth, tannic, but not overwhelmingly so, just a nice balance and structure. Plenty of grip, but fruit always there. Long and lovely finish.Up there with the best of the ‘01 Napa cabs I’ve had the good fortune to cellar and drink recently.

Nothing negative about this one. Solid mouth feel, tannic, dry, jammy, juicy and delicious. Couldn't have enjoyed it more with a nice steak than I did. And glad to have opened it. Drank at Vic’s on the River, in Savannah, Ga with Michael & Tracy! Lovely wine, Mike says exceptional, Doug says elegant & silken. Tracy says, party in my mouth. I would recommend drinking on the next 3-5 years. Just fabulous today.

The 2005 continues a wonderful string of vintages from Husic. Bold fruit on the nose and palate, moderate tannins and balance hove come to define this label. You'll do well to allow 2-3 hours to decant and use a filter on these older vintages.

Husic entered this century with a. truly great cab, one that is strong but not bold in the traditional sense. It has dark fruit on the nose which follows the palate, has moderate tannins and a medium finish. This wine demonstrates the character of a label that is building a consistency of quality and it is quickly becoming one of my all-time favorite wines.

Fantastic classic California cab! Opaque, fruit is still strong and will last many more years. Opened for 3-4 hours and was just wonderful.

2005 vintage

Classic Husic cab: deep purple-black color; somewhat closed nose of black fruits and wet stone; big fruit-forward taste with strong notes of blackberry, cherry and oak, with an almost syrupy feel; firm acidity and a long finish of honey with a hint of cocoa. High alcohol, not a lot of restraint on display here, but count me as a fan.

2012 vintage

Three hour decant. Very deep dark crimson magenta color. Stewed cherries, oregano, anise and ripe pomegranate on the elegant nose. Very smooth, dry palate with subtle spiciness. Firm, but not aggressive tannins on the long finish. This is showing initial signs of age and is in its peak drinking window.

A real winner. This is serious cab. Everything works here. The finish goes on for a while. For cab lovers, this is what you are looking for.

2005 vintage

Way to young to be trying this puppy. Quite perfumed of lavender and aged leather. Young tasting and seems like this is built to age. Flavors of fresh berry, cedar wood, and aged leather. This could have used 4-6 hours of decant but trust me it is well structured and built to benefit from age. Finishes with vanilla lingering flavor.

2012 vintage

This is a dark ruby wine, thick, deep and rich. There are notes of lavender and eucholiptous on the nose with dark cherries and cassis. This is a strong wine, acidic with a long finish. The tannins are very structured. The 2012 is a good wine, but needs more time in the bottle, at least another 2-3 years. For comparison, I opened the 2003 during Christmas 2018 and it was perfect, perhaps at its exact prime. I strongly suspect the …

This wine is deep inky purple red in the glass. Highly aromatic nose of red currant, gravel and eucalyptus. Big fruit bomb of cherry, currant and cassis, hints of dark chocolate, overlaid on a bed of minerality and firm tannic structure. Long finish, resolving to mild sweetness. Overall a bit rough and tumble, needs some time to find balance and integration.

60 min decant (could have been 2-3 h). Inky purple red color. Lilac, menthol, tanned leather, oak and perfume on very aromatic nose. Viscous and a bit alcoholic. Smooth, grippy palate with some vanilla on the front end. Medium long, brooding finish with firm tannins.

Interestingly only one previous note for this delicious wine. Purchased quite a while ago on a recommendation i tasted my first bottle. I found it to be a seriously well balanced, full body Cab. Has everything you want in a Cab from start to lingering finish.

Nice opaque garnet color opaque and slightly hazy. The aromas are currant, smoke, dry leaves, and blackberry. The tastes are currants, blackberry, spice, vanilla, and sour cherry. The tannins are silky and the finish is nice and zingy.

I thought the bottle was past its drinking window when for the first 30 minutes there seemed to be alcohol and only faint fruit, then the bottle with some air got its second breath and came to life with plenty of blackberries, black cherries and some hints of red fruits. The alcohol blew off a bit and some herbs came through as well.

This is perfection. A cab that I won't soon forget. Glad I have one more. It was the favorite at my wine tasting.

Good wine but still a little backward and a little hot in the finish. I found the nose absolutely stunning and then was disappointed with the asymmetry of the body. I will wait another year or two before having another.

Decanted an hour, garnet red, medium body with dark cherry, dark fruit and chocolate. Nice balance noted a touch of heat on the back end.

elegant floral aromatics, tannins have subsided into a nice gentle sweetness - medium weight, a touch lighter as compared to younger Dos Palmas we've had - red fruits,slight touch of acidity/tartness - think this is towards the end of its drinking window, don't wait if you have any in the cellar.

A big, rich and smooth Napa Cab; solid core of dark fruit, very nice structure. Tasted at Ma(i)sonry in Napa - very well presented along with other wonderful wines from Husic. Will lay some down and expect very good continued aging potential.

Decanted about 1/2 hour. Garnet color. Body is medium to heavy. Lacked prominent fruit flavors, making it somewhat bland. Mostly herb and tobacco.

Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, chocolate, and hay. Full body with more dark cherry, spiced vanilla bean, chocolate. Lively acidity. Gains intensity with air. Sweet and fine tannins. Just a bit warm on the back end.

Had to try one that I bought from PLCB Chairman's program. Awesome cab for $55. Agree with J2K review. Great flavors, body and finish, Just a quintessential Napa cab. Probably will get better with additional bottle age.

The nose is worth the price of admission alone, great balance of warm fruit and inviting spice. The mouthfeel is wonderfully smooth, very well integrated and balanced. Great flavors of fruit with a solid structure, a very full body, and a fabulous array of oak and tannin. The finish will hold to your mouth for at least 30 seconds, maybe even a full minute by the end of the night. I will definitely be getting more of this.

Big and smooth, rich cab flavors, dark fruit, black currant, some chocolate, dry, with healthy tannins. This is an excellent wine and will probabaly be better with some time to breathe or in the cellar.

Excellent bottle, poured and set for about 1 hour prior to drinking. Floral nose with black currant and dark plum on palate with strong tannins at first that mellowed over the next hour. Balanced and nice drinking wine.

The color was the first thing noticed - deep, ruby red. A very pleasant nose that was not overpowering but hinted at the classic cab within the glass. Decanted about 3 hours. Black currant and black cherry on the nose, with underlying notes of dirt and twigs, a little spice, and some crushed rock at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with loads of dark, black fruit, and good amount of spice and rock, and a slightly earthy finish.

I bought this after the initial excitement from the Butterfields tasting (not sure how many people remember that). Pretty nose. Quite smoky with rich fruit and minerals. Cali Winemakers Offline - Barrett, Browne, Kurtzman, Melka and Masyczek (Brentwood, CA) : Brimming with red fruits such as red currants and cranberries, along with shadings of cedar, this wine was the most polished and elegant of the Masyczek wines. Drinking really well now, but it should continue to improve over the next 5 years or so.

Modestly sweet fruit accompanied by rich oak, and a touch of cinnamon. Structure but not tannic. OK but hasn't really developed much since release and doesn't seem likely to go anywhere.
