2/12 still very black fruited and tannic, good substance but hard work at this stage, needs to mellow a bit.

Clearly at some point I have gained a real enemy. The difficulty is working out who, when my life has been a monument to heaping insult on obloquy on those who cross my path. By my 6th decade this is a rich haul. Be that as it may, I feel I must propitiate whomever it is that is controlling the thermostat here in Lynehamsas. Fortunately, I have opened this wine and I feel the flow of hate again coursing through …

Delicious now. Tannins seem resolved.

Still hanging in there. Tannings now very relaxed but still had enough polish to be thoroughly enjoyable. Probably very near the end of the cycle but all good.

I like the rusticity. I am delighted that the alcohol burn has reduced. This is now a very nice bottle. Plenty of CndP personality. Long but not unduly complex. Drink now but no hurry.

-- double decanted about 30 min. before initial taste -- -- tasted a couple pours non-blind over approx. 1.5 hrs. -- -- magnum -- NOSE: lovely, moderately-aged, red-fruited Nose. Wafts of celery salt and old wood furniture. Aromatically, this is at peak for my preferences. BODY: medium-full bodied. Moderately aged appearance, as it had medium-light bricking throughout, but was otherwise a dark garnet color. TASTE: tastes a bit older than it smells; mix of primary and tertiary, but it seems …

Drank my last Mag with thanksgiving dinner. For me this is about as perfect as aged CNdP gets. Beautifully silky smooth cherry liquor with some dark fruits, garrigue, earth and leather. Really stunning wine. Sad it’s my last bottle.

This is outstanding after 20 years. An expressive nose with plenty of fruit remaining.

Technically a 20-year old wine now and what a beauty. Big earthy nose right out of the gate with plum, black raspberrry, and dark currant fruit up front. Wonderful secondary notes of forest floor, fresh herbs, licorice, baking spice, minerals, cracked pepper, and olive tapenade. Still has some good acidity and great long finish. So good right now but no rush.

Dark fruited with lavender and garrigue on the nose. A mix of red and black fruits, deep but restrained and reigned it for its 14% alc. Quite classic and quite tannic, especially after 2 hours in the decanter. Best around an hour. Still some evolution ahead.

Man this was good CNdP. Really pure red cherry liqueur and vanilla with garrigue and cedar. Very dense, and rich, endless finish. One of the better CNdP I’ve had. Great with thanksgiving dinner.

Crimson in color. 14% ABV. Stunning nose of red fruits, garrigue, roasted herbs and hot, wet asphalt. Medium body with perfect acidity and balance. Tremendous structure and concentration. Raspberry, kirsch, herbes de Provence and blood on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. Killer CdP that could not be showing better as it approaches twenty years of age. Rivals the 01 as my favorite vintage of Vieux Donjon. Best over the next 3-5 years.

This wine still has it! Took 2 hours to decant and open up. Smooth finish, great example of CdP.

Aroma: lots of red fruits, dried prunes, raisins, figs, vanilla, menthol, very jammy, graphite, tobacco, clove and white pepper. Palate: lots of luscious red fruits, very mouth watering, medium tannins, acidity ramps up where it’s low in the beginning and then it tapers off with a long finish. Very well structured and balanced wine! On day 4 there’s licorice on the nose. On the palate, this wine has a vibrant acidity. 93-94

Wow. Sad it's my last bottle. In a really perfect place. Still a fair bit of fruit, secondaries quite prominent, smooth, long finish, a little bit of tang provides a nice little kick on the end.

Acquired new. 2 hour decant but frankly not really necessary. Fully mature and perfect CDP. Cannot afford Chateau Rayas and this is a nice substitute. Always been a fan of this producer as they are consistently well made.

This beautiful CNP was alive and well. No decanting, served right after opening. Lots of nice dark red fruit and mild tannin, soft and yummy but with plenty of structure holding it all together. Alcohol was 14%. A wonderful experience and if any reader has any I would encourage you to enjoy it now, and don't save any for the second night.

I gave it 45 minutes of air prior to tasting. Medium garnet color, with just a touch of bricking at the edges; savory notes of roast meat, and earth are present on initial tasting. Out of the gate, the fruit has faded a bit relative to the last couple of bottles I’ve tasted. Tannins have receded almost completely, leaving a mouthwatering acidity fighting for balance against savory notes of leather and tar. 90 minutes after opening, a better balance has …

Last bottle of the 12 I bought in 2008, and that is probably a good thing as this bottle came across a bit tired. Very healthy cork and good colour with slight teal hue along the rim. Very rustic on the nose at first, but with a bit of air the wine came very nicely together. It drinks well and offers traditional notes of garrigue and thyme but also more meaty notes, which breaks the balance a bit. I normally …

Clear medium garnet with a presence of legs/tears on the glass. A clean wine with medium+ intensity with aromas of preserved fruits, jamminess, strawberry, blackcurrant, bramble, kirsch, dried blackberry, forest floor, fig, leather, a touch of black pepper and farmyard. This wine is fully developed. The wine is dry with medium acidity, tannins are medium- with medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours matching the aromas. The finish is long. Drink now not suitable for further aging.

Tasty btl w/ Nita's flank steak tonight. Not showing any oxidation but not sure this btl is any better than one from 3-1/2yrs ago. I had hoped another 3-1/2 years would make this final btl memorable. 91-92
