McWilliam's Shiraz Hanwood Estate

Decanted for an hour - could have used more time. Given the price and age, this was not bad. Label is right on - raspberry, plum, vanilla and spice. The finish is fairly hot, but that lessens over time. Overall, a pleasant surprise that it is fairly drinkable.

Not great, but good. An average Shiraz (midlevel tannins) but good with food - I would not try to drink this on its own, not enough complexity or interest in the different flavours.

Deep purple red not much on the nose but very smooth taste, Black fruit with chocolate/mocha on the finish.

Lemon chicken. This wine starts with the soft fruit of an Australian Shiraz but finishes with a bramble aftertaste that I'm not sure I like. Perhaps with a better food fit? Lamb chops. Actually, not the soft fruit I thought, but more dark berry-coffee-bramble flavor from the start. I'm trying to find a way to like this, but it's just not a pleasant flavor for me. Earthy color, nice nose, very smooth.

Consistent notes.

Strong black fruit, spice, and a slight vegetal note. Cracker Jacks on the finish. Seriously. Very easy to drink, and ready right now. Nice value on sale for $7.

Aweful. Bad smell, bad taste, horrible finish. Dumped it out.
