Tenuta Bonzara Merlot Colli Bolognesi Rocca di Bonacciara

At a blind tasting, theme was Merlot, minimum 10 years old. This was a surprise. Stumped most, no one guessed Italy. Very different. Color showed age, but no one thought is was a 1998. Nose was quite complex, still fruit, but spice and earth as well. On the palate, fruit was muted, but definitely still there. Plenty of secondary and tertiary flavors. Long finish. Interestingly, was softer and a bit better on day 2.
