Pop and pour. Another broken cork, but still excellent. See prev. note.

Pop and pour. Cork broke as I opened it. Seemingly attenuated, but good berry fruit and good acid. Perhaps slightly damaged as these are usually really expressive.

Tasted at Traube Blansingen in Baden. A settled-down and mature bouquet showing ripe sour cherry fruit. Rich and concentrated, but also well defined and puristic fruit. Fine earthy base. A juicy palate with great tension and chiseled structure. This wine has personality and has not yet reached its peak yet.

Pop and pour. Notes from Day 3 open. This btl showed a bit more oak than I remember, but still very good and other notes apply.

Pop and pour. Notes from several days open. On the nose: soft oak and spicy red fruit, so suave. On the palate: fantastic acidity, bitter herbs and red fruit, lightweight but dense fruit, attenuated tannin on the finish. Better close to opening, so drink in near term if this btl is representative.

I really like this one. We've had a flight of German Pinots today and this one's a cracker. Cherry and strawberry core but such salinity and savouriness as well! Fabulous! Big body and wonderfully beefy as well. Love it.

Decanted, notes from 3.5 hrs open. Was a bit thin on the palate, and a bit closed on the nose to start, but this is starting to soar. Nose shows a touch of funk, loads of spicy black fruit, some tomato paste, great complexity. On the palate, excellent acidity, a nice mix of red fruit and spice, more tomato paste, and very soft tannin on the finish. Elegant and excellent. Day 2: sat unrefrigerated on the counter overnight. Much more …

Delicious. Juicy succulence from sap (vs fruit) drives this bus. Backed by solid red currant-y fruit and good structure. Tight and elegant, not showy. Long finish with more fruit and green wood qualities. Lovely stuff.

Impressive stuff. Deep black plum/black cherry fruit with a tinge of earth to it on the nose. There's an intriguing herbal/foresty note in the nose too, and you especially notice it on the finish---pine needles maybe? Plush on the palate but there's acidity for balance too. This sings in a lower and more luxurious register than the Schulen. Diana Krall-like. Would buy again. (Kinda funny how heavy the bottle is though---Grand Cru packaging).

The WOTN - although a 2012, the wine is surprisingly accessible. A bit like a Chambertin Grand Cru; very concentrated and elegant, full bodied, lush black cherry aromes, with hints of spices and earth, balsamic notes, well integrated, balanced tannins and acid .. lasts at least two minutes. This is german Spätburgunder at it´s best, may be one of the top three available. Not a bargain, but absolutely worth the price. Will get even better with time, the peak will …

This really stood out as a solid pinot. Subdued, nice dry red fruit flavors, lots of forest floor. I thought it split the difference b/t new/old world and compared it to Rhys. That was dumb as we opened and Rhys and they tasted nothing alike. A
